Hey all new N Litter puppy families, Rumor has it that it's a big weekend in Belwood. I heard the OPP are setting up checkpoints on the 6th line to check credentials that only official N Litter owners are allowed in I'm sure the excitement level is high for everyone getting their new pups so for us that are now beyond puppyhood with our Dobereich Dobermans please post up some pics and tell us about your new pup and their name and share a few pictures too! Remember LOTS of pictures because they grow up so fast that you want to capture the early times. Zeus came home about 15 lbs and in 3 months was over 42 lbs. Congratulations to everyone and wish you many loving and happy years with your new Dobereich Doberman. Nothing like this breed for getting into your heart and soul, they are much more than just dogs.

Welcome to the family Dobermarch! Neighbour?? You in Grimsby too? I know there is a male coming from the planned M litter to Grimsby, I see the couple a few times a week they live on our daily walk route. If you are close love to meet you and your puppy. If you are in a crunch for ear posting help and too far to get to Belwood etc feel free to drop me a line. Even if not real close I'm all over SW Ontario from Windsor to Barrie, GTA, Lindsay area as I travel lots with work and Zeus is usually my partner travelling with me so it would be nice to meet in the future. So what are you planning on male or female? I know it's black and tan as they are all black and tan ;D Happy for you as it's a pretty cool time seeing all the pups and if you haven't experienced it yet, I'm sure Monica will introduce the adults also to check you out Have fun and enjoy the special day and take lots of pictures. I have tons and even got some video footage the 2nd time we met the litter. I still look back at the shots and video and am amazed how fast they grow. Hey just a tip on ear posting, get the tensoplast tape from Monica, get a tube of rolls that should last you through all the posting. The hypafix she uses to wrap the posts get that from her too. Those 2 things are important to have for posting and the tensoplast tape that she suggests is not available in any drug store or public store, pet store, box pet stores. It medical grade so medical suppliers, hospitals have it but they don't retail to the public. I looked all over and zip, even my vet didn't have it. They had something close, but it's not the same. The method that Monica has in the puppy manual and the right supplies makes life so much easier for you and the puppy when posting so do yourself a favor and get the tape and hypafix from her when you pick up the pup to go home. The popsicle sticks, paper towels and 90% alky you can find at dollar stores and drug stores.

Thank you for the warm welcome, were glad to be here! ;D We would be happy to bring our new little girl Nova by to meet you and Zeus. Any help you can provide regarding the posting of ears is welcomed and appreciated; we are first time owners of a dog with cropped ears and we want to ensure that we do everything correctly beginning with your suggestion of getting the supplies from Monica. We are new to Grimsby, just moved to a new subdivision by Casablanca. Any suggestions regarding a vet(s) in the area would be greatly appreciated. We currently have a vet in Hamilton but would prefer to stay local. I have also read the post regarding vaccinations and we would prefer to go the route of least vaccinations for the dog. Unfortunately I forgot to bring the camera to the visit but I was able to take some pictures using my phone, not the greatest. I will post once I figure out how to make the file size smaller. Thanks again.

Wow this gets better all the time. Nova....well I'm a classic car guy and also drag race one of them for fun and guess what it is?? A NOVA..... a 69 Nova SS , maybe you have seen it at the Gateway Cruise night by you on Tuesday nights this past summer? Or rumbling around town. It's black with white hood and trunk stripes and you would remember it if you saw it as it's basically a full blown race car with licence plates and mufflers. Roll cage, 18" wide rear tires and a loud rumpity exhaust sound like nothing else that comes to that cruise night and a red doberman sitting in the passenger seat like he owns the car and I'm his personal driver I'm on Stonegate off Lake street by Maple St. and Forans Marina. Any help you need let me know. Monica gives an awesome puppy manual with her pups. It's a bible for a doberman owner and covers all key topics, one being ear posting. She will show you on going home day too but in the heat of the moment that going home day can be overwhelming so if you need help let me know. I was really anal about Zeus's ears and he was posted a long time but all the efforts were worth it as he has beautiful standing cropped ears. We didn't have good luck with the Grimsby Animal Hospital on Hwy 8 by my end of town with our previous doberman after a couple visits back many years ago. Maybe things have changed. I started then trying Beamsville Animal Hospital just off the QEW by the Lincoln Town Hall. We used them for Zeus1 for his 10 years, Zeus II for his 9.5 years and again with this guy Zeus III for his 2+ years. I've found all the staff just great Becky, Karen and Dr. Hunter and Dr Laura Hagar there have been great. I have no problem reccomending them and they know Zeus and I by name very well so if you do go there, maybe stop in and see them 1st and mention us and see if they fit with you. As for the shots I have to print Monica's post and discuss with the vet because they are on an annual deal and Zeus is due starting yesterday. last spring he was fighting staph and the shots compounded his staph issues for a bit. All is good on the staph front now. I'll maybe stop at vet with Monica's post and see what they say. The vet by Sobeys I've never tried or been. I've felt comfortable and happy with Beamsville and never looked elsewhere. We use Clovelly Kennels on your side of town for any boarding that's required during the year. Zeus II we boarded there a few times a year when we went on vacations and he was fine and they were great with him. Zeus III doesn't board well he really has a hard time when away from us but they have been good with him. So for a place to board I would say they are the best around here. I buy the biggest package they have with extra walks. Zeus III has been there a couple times so far since he joined our family. I do everything I can to try and not board him. You can check me out with Monica as I'm no stalker LOLOL. Would love to meet, we are on opposite sides of town to meet for daily walks but it's only 5 min drive for either of us and could still walk together sometime. I have a nice daily route I use and alternate directions it's just under 3 miles. It's mostly subdivision streets that intertwine and only a 5-10 min part on busier section of lake street. If you get a decent couple mile route by you figured out as Nova is older love to walk together when it fits. By you or by me. Not sure what you have planned for training but Monica will stress that you do some basic training with your pup. Monica does great courses but if back to Belwood and 1 1/2 hrs one way each week is too much driving, there is a good trainer in Grimsby that does a great basic puppy class. We used her and our class was each week at the school beside Lotus Garden Restaurant right in town. Good socalization with other dogs and she was a good trainer. Don't do a Petsmart class I did that before and it's better than nothing, but not great. if you need more on this happy to provide. Ok that's a good read for you. if you can't resize photos I'm good with Photo shop email to gpotyok@cogeco.ca and I'll size it down for you.

Hey maybe you know, but maybe not? Nova's mother Juno and our Zeus are half brother and sister. Same mother Phoenix but different father.
That would make Nova half Niece of Zeus. Pretty cool Eh!

As Gary mentioned its is very important that you get your pup well socialized..You should start with puppy classes and also around people, different places and noises..When Dante was a puppy i would even hang around outside the grocery stores with all the noises of carts, doors opening and people coming and going and petting him..We live in London and the 1 hour and 40 minute drive was WELL worth it to do training with Monica...I tried other trainers but they can be so general...Dobermans are a breed unto themselves and require a balanced trainer that believes a dog needs rewards as well as strong discipline...I hope to continue training Dante and the pup with Monica when the nicer weather arrives..I will also verify that Gary is not a STALKER...lol....He is just a fantastic guy that LOVES his dog as much as we do...You have a great group of Dobereich dog owners that will always be here to support you and help you in any way we can...
P.S Gary...Its Kerrie here and I will email you this weekend...I haven't forgotten about you...lol..

Yup socalize as much as possible and different people places and things. Walk the pup down the main street of Niagara-on-the-lake on Sundays with all the people, downtown Grimsby Main St. I took Zeus to the racetrack so many times with cars running and open exhausts, I worked him up to it mind you and it was probably 15 times before we were able to be close to the track but he's fine. I run him there weekly when the place is closed so my big issue now is when we go to the track when it's open he can't understand how come he's not allowed to run around free!
In the summer he goes with me to car cruise night car shows and I spend the evening walking him around the shows with other people and dogs etc. In fact he's better known than I am at the cruise nights. He has people that always come up and greet and pet him.
I had him at lots of dog shows too after he was older. Monica wanted me socalizing him at shows and I would say it was a great thing for his development and being around other dogs in the tight close quarters of a show environment.
Dobermans are really smart dogs and the more people, places, events, things you can expose them to the better rounded they are. There is a good read on that in Monica's puppy manual.

ToyzShopGary - We look forward to meeting up with you and Zeus III. Thank you very much for your help regarding all things doggie in Grimsby, as well as, your offer for future assistance (this has provided us a great deal of comfort). It's very cool that Nova will have relative close by! ALL - Agreed on the socialization and exposing the pup to new and noisy people/places. We had a good experience at McCann's dog training school in Flamborough, and will most likely go there again. Nova is the yellow collared pup in the litter. I am still working on trying to post a pic; once I do they will be posted in this thread. This forum is fantastic ;D ;D ;D I haven't picked up my pup yet and already met friendly, and informative, people. Thanks Attachments:

AWW....She is such a sweetie...I have given her a few kisses when I've been there...I will send you some pics and video when I get it uploaded...Not many more sleep filled nights left for us "N" litter people so enjoy the next week before we get our pups...lol...I am just getting an area set up today with a crate and X-Pen so that we can keep her seperated from Dante our 26 Month old Dobereich boy..ToyshopGary Zues' brother...We will all have to stay in contact...We have formed a lifetime bond with Toyzshopgary through having "F" litter pups together..And having this forum gives us all a place to ask questions, tell funny stories and find a wealth of information from other members and having Monica is sooooo invaluable...

Yea just don't forget your F litter friends now that you have moved up the alphabet to the N litter ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Just kidding Barb and Kerrie!!! Hey it looks like I'll have it good I get to see Dobermarch's Nova and maybe walk with them etc as she's growing and I don't have the puppy antics and doberteens again 24/7 Nova will be just like grandchildren, spend time and play with and spoil and send them off with their parents for all the other stuff. Just kidding again! Hey Dobermarch any time you need anything feel free. You know where we are and we are the only ones on Stonegate with a doberman sign on the garage door and back gate. Shes a sweetie and she looks bashful in the pictures. Another connection yellow collar, I'm a DSM for Ski-doo snowmobiles and you can't get more yellow than Ski-doo snowmobiles! Hey I have a small crate if you want to borrow it as opposed to buying a small one. It will get you buy and when she is outgrowing it you can buy a larger one that you can use as she grows to adult. We had the small one for Zeus as he came home as a puppy. I'm sure it will be perfect for Nova. When she outgrows it just give it back as we will have it for the next pup and maybe for the O litter male to borrow after you as Nova will probably be about ready for a bigger crate as they bring their boy home in Summer. The offer is there if you want it, save you buying a small one to start. Let me know. I'll drop it off or you can pick it up
