Cast your vote, and say NO if you believe that this breed should be able to represent themselves the way they were originally intended, cropped and docked. This isn't just about cropping ears, its about losing the the right to choose, and allowing a minority group to dictate bylaws that affect everyone. it won't stop with just ear cropping bans, tails will also be left intact and the breed will lose its original identity. I believe that people should have a right to choose and I will support anyone's decision to leave their Dobermann natural. But to support a ban for one thing will open the door to more dictatorship and imposing bylaws later. The next one on the agenda is forced early spay and neuter, regardless of study reports that prove the long term health risks involved.
Not sure? In some US states breed bans opened the door to cropping bans, and then a spay and neuter bylaw came into play. Responsible pet ownership, or a means to an end of quality bred dogs? The imposing bylaws actually put an end to the small home based breeders. Pet owners who would co-own a show quality puppy... no more. Can't have an intact dog unless you're a licensed breeder. But urban home based breeders cannot meet the requirements to be licensed. The new bylaw actually promotes the puppy farms, as the need to have land becomes the main criteria for being permitted to breed. We all know that puppy farms and puppy mills are not breeding for the betterment of any breed.
This is happening, and its time Canadians show that we are not going to let someone take away our right to choose.
