Hey all it's partly cloudy and a little cool this morning in KW and Juno is excited to meet you all! Since she's up all night we've scheduled Monica's nap from 1 until 2 this afternoon! We did meet at the HNA yesterday and it looks like all trails are passable (yay), so you have full choice of trails. I will bring a couple of recycle bins to dispose of waterbottles and popcans. It is a public park so please remember we want to leave it in the same condition we found it ;D. We just want to scare all the other folks off the trails . Monica has already suggested layering your clothing and a blanket or bed for the dogs as yes the grass is spotty in the field. As a personal reminder to me (who wore sandals to the last HIKE), it's a hike, don't wear your sunday best, or sandals, there will be wet spots and depending on the trail some actual hiking. Also with the exception of the Woodland trail Sebastian and his stroller have been able to navigate all trails, although with challenges. So that is it. I look forward to meeting you all this afternoon. For those of you keying in your Garmin or Tom Tom the address is Huron Natural Area 801 Trillium Drive Kitchener Martin

Juno says thanks to everyone who made today awesome, so cool to see so many dobes in one place. Maybe not as cool for the parents of the children at the 2 birthday parties under the pavillion. Who knew they'd be there all summer and the only time we saw anyone there was a wedding party taking photos. Thanks to everyone who brought something, especially those who brought tables, it all worked out and the field was probably a better setting for that many dobes and owners anyway! Sorry Lisa I'm just too tired to upload any photos and the ones I took were mostly wide shots of everyone anyway hopefully others will post pictures. I do have a couple I'll upload first one for Monica and Kerrie...was this the shot you were looking for from Juno? She did this 3 times after coming home, 5 minutes after eating...she is looking down the path that would take us to HNA again... second one on the slope is not as nice and this is how I am going to measure the success of the day, this shot is only 5 minutes after the ones outside.. and here she is now... I'll take that as a pretty successful meet...she is happily exhausted, and so am I... Martin

Wow Awesome, awesome day everyone! It was so great to socialize with new and old friends....... First time Scarlet has stayed in her crate even with the door open and us inviting her to come up on the bed to cuddle. I have heard her rustling around in there, but I can't see her, and she shows no signs of being able to move LOL. I think she's down for the night.... I've got only a few photos from today that I will get together tomorrow. In the meantime here's a photo of Scarlet (left) and her mama Cajun (right). Julian and I were so happy to see Cajun again, thank you so much Monica for bringing her and having us watch her. I saw so much of Scarlet's characteristics in her today... Definitely figured out where the food motivation came from lmao Attachments:

What a great day! Thanks Monica for inviting us to the hike & BBQ. It was our first time at one of the Dobereich walks. It was nice meeting all the dobies and their owners. What a great group of Dobereich dogs & owners. It was nice to see the puppies... I think some of us got our puppy fix until the next get together. Thanks again to everyone and all the good food that everyone brought. Phoenix enjoyed seeing all the dobies too!

Thanks, Martin, for suggesting the venue. What a great place for dog walking! Lucky you!
(Bill commented that he was grateful for the easy hills. No endless ice- and snow-covered stairs like the ones at Mono Cliffs. LOL. I went up those on hands and knees.)
Great food and great company, though I confess that I still can't remember everyone's names. Jack had a blast! He just wanted to play, play, play. With the puppies. With the pugs. And with the girls (sorry, Scarlet, his fickle streak was on display today). He slept for three hours after we arrived home, got up for an hour to eat and potty, then went straight back up to bed, which is where he is now. He isn't going to be happy when we haul him downstairs for his final potty before we go to bed.
Can't wait to see everyone's pix.

What a great day yesterday. Thanks to everyone who brought not only food, condiments, drinks, cutlery and plates, tables....the list is endless...but thanks for the company of their dogs and themselves. Yesterday all of our dogs were "once again" great ambassadors of the breed. Even when Waterloo's "finest" dropped in, they were very impressed by 1) the fact that we were all associated thru 1 breeder 2) that we all took time to meet up together--again a testiment to our breeder 3) how well socialized and in-control 30 Doberman Pinschers can be. Congratulations to everyone!
I think the only "rowdy" dogs yesterday were the S-litter puppies when they were together in the X-pen. They were too cute. Even poor little Duke, after trying to strut his stuff, was getting shut down by his sisters! Duke, it's just a prelude for what's to come---watch out for the "alpha" girls....
Lisa, Kazi did her best to represent the N-litter. She went up to all of the dogs and introduced herself, and welcomed them to the event. She only got distracted when food was being offered....just ask Julian how good the "meatballs" tasted...LOL. By 5pm though, she was getting very, very tired and after grumbling a little happily retreated into her crate in the truck for a siesta. Just the mere mention of "do you want to go in the truck" and she quickly led me to it. Poor tired girl! So much stimulation all at once...it's just too much for Kazi-Doodles.
So, another successful D.O.G. event in the books.....more pictures will come....again it was great seeing everyone yesterday, and we look forward to seeing everyone soon again.

Thanks to all that attended and who contributed. It was so awesome seeing everyone, old and new. I was like a kid in a candy store! I literally didn't even get to eat 1/4 of the food that was there, and even then I wasn't eating till after almost everyone was gone. I surely hope I didn't leave anyone out, I think I got a chance to see all the dogs and spend a moment with each. But this walk wasn't just about me getting my Dober-doggie fix, it was about everyone getting a chance to get together and walk for our dog's. Its great to show the softer side to our Dobermanns, and wonderful to have new faces and other breeds along. Mind you, the only other breed was the Pug.... and boy oh boy did they turn some Dober-dude heads...ha-ha! Jack and Dante were barely able to contain themselves! Everyone made me proud with their dogs behaviour being completely in check. I must admit that my own two made me very proud as well. Rhody was playing with his intact great-grandson Blade... got that one on video, and he went for a walk with Todd... a perfect stranger to him. My lil man was on his best behaviour. Julian took off somewhere with Cajun. I wasn't too worried as I could see their car was still in the parking lot. But you'll notice that I didn't let them take Rhody. LOL. Martin and Juno were real troopers. Martin, thank you for going out of your way to print off those trail guides. did anyone notice the list on the back? You stuck it out for the entire day too... even though poor Juno was so tired. she was the famous dog of the day, everyone wanted to see her and have their pictures taken with her...lol. Sonia, you and I made a pretty good team setting up. you were a wonderful help, and the coffee was definitely a great idea! john did a wonderful job BBQ-ing, gave Barb a break this time around and she surely seemed a lot more relaxed as a result...lol. Everyone helped to make this a very special day for me. I didn't want to make this event about my anniversary... so I will throw a big bash next year to celebrate 20 years as a registered breeder. I haven't managed to keep a marriage that long... but the dogs are never at risk of loosing my attention.... ha-ha! Guess that's just a bit much to ask any guy to compete with. ;D I'm sure that there will be tons more photos to come. Andriena, Mandy, and Kerrie were taking a lot of photos... thanks for that guys!! Even Barb had the camera going a few times, and managed to get some very nice photos if I might add... way to go Barb! Again, thanks everyone. We've had many walks, but this one was special for me.

Sheila we were happy to have you. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to introduce you to everyone. So let me do so now, better late then never... ha-ha. Sheila brought along her friend, and two of her dogs. Dyna is one of Argus's girlfriends, and the little red puppy Rumour is Argus's granddaughter. Very pretty little girl you got there Sheila. Aha! When we introduced ourselves, I didn't realize you were THAT Sheila. Sorry. I think you were ahead of us on the trail when a couple with two Labs approached. It was lovely to see the Dobes being very well-behaved while one of the Labs was barking and lunging and generally being an idiot. Even Jack, who can take exception to that kind of behaviour (and truth be told, can sometimes instigate it himself) sat perfectly while they passed, though he did give a low growl at one point. But then he remembered that he was at a Dobereich event and had to be on his best behaviour.
