One of our posters asked "Do reds smile". While I can recall Indi giving a bit of a grin when she was happy, she never actually showed teeth. I had to think, I can't recall off the top of my head a red that would give a full toothy smile.
Of my dogs, Isis and Rhody smile, but nobody as much as Kaia... she is by far my biggest smiler, and I must say it melts my heart every time. Its a sure fire way for any Dobe to get out of trouble, cause its awfully hard to discipline a smiling dog....lol. Of course the smile at that point is submission, which makes it even harder to stay serious as your smiling Dobie is standing over a shredded Kleenex box (yes, a predetermined favourite among Dobes).
So share with us you stories, and photos of your smiling Dobies. I'll try to catch my Kaia with a grin. Curious if her red brother Quin smiles?

Well I have a red smiler for you ;D Scarlet actually has done it for a while but only recently I have seen it. She smiled the last couple times she saw her favourite auntie Kerrie! haha, a couple times in training, and at the last walk. When I recently started working again, i suppose she was lonely during the day and when i came home she would just jump and play bow at me with this huge grin on her face... would run around the house, prance, come back and turn her lip up with a huge grin, its so cute!!! Now when she sees anyone that she really likes, she smiles when they walk in and its become a habit lol. My mom actually the other day screamed and was like OMG her teeth! what is she doing!!! Im like Mom she is smiling at you hahaha... she had never seen it before and thought she was growling lmao.

A smile from her would put him right over the top. I know I've posted this picture before, but here it is again. Unfortunately, the quality is poor, but it's the only one we have. All the others are completely blurred because a wildly wiggling butt must accompany his smile. Attachments:

I have to laugh at that picture of Jack with that devious closed- mouth-but-bottom-teeth-showing version. Quin does that occasionally and its always first thing in the morning, after I've come downstairs and he wiggles over to greet me. Yes Dyanne, that wiggly bum has to be there for him to do it.
The only times he really gives big open mouth smiles is when he's really excited, running around the yard chasing his frizbee or on the trail when he's really cranked and leaping over ditches like a steeplechaser. I call it his "wahoo let's go crazy" smile.
I'll see if I can capture one on camera

Love that pic of Jack Dyanne. I've never caught Diesels full on smile with teeth showing. My mom has...nut I've never seen it. So hard to capture these cute moments

Quin must have heard we were talking about him not smiling a lot because today he was having a great time in his favourite wood. Leaping logs and having a ball.
