Gawd...been so buys at work didn't have time to send anything in plus most of my pics are crappy since over 80% of them were taken using my phone Jo's comp crashed so I doubt she was able to send anything. I just hope Monica put photo's with D and Reyna from D.O.G. meetings. Great pics everyone...nice photo dump of Ace...been holding out photo's I see LOL. I would like 2 calendars please Monica. No need to ship it, if you don't mind giving to Andreina as we meet up from time to time anyway.

This is a tough call on numbers of calendars to order. The reason I say that is because of Monica's post about "not knowing what it will look like before ordering". I have no doubt that the calendar will look great, but the point behind me ordering the calendar, or ordering several would be for gifts for family. Now my family would love to have a calendar of Dobermans for sure, but I'm sure they would be happier to have one that my "kids" are in. Monica, I know we've been talking about one of my shots of my dogs... I just don't know if that's going to work for what you need it for. So the number of calendars I would like would be based on that... and hoping that doesn't sound too egocentric. As for pictures that have prongs in them, or blemishes of any sort, I would be happy to assist with trying to get those pictures calendar ready for you, and make any edits necessary to get them to where they need to be. I have programs that can do some pretty amazing things... but keep in mind that there are also limits to what you can correct in a shot. As for those looking for cameras in order to take great pictures... let me tell you that I was just talking to my 'photo guy' who works at Henry's, and also owns his own photography company as well. He just bought the new Sony camera (SONY ALPHA NEX-5N W/18-55 OSS), which is a way smaller camera, but has a high resolution, and does some amazing things right within the camera such as HDR photos etc. He took this camera with him to Greece on his honeymoon because he didn't want to carry heavy expensive gear around all the time, and was so impressed with this camera... and this is a guy that charges thousands of dollars for photo shoots that he does. So if he swears by it... well, then you should be very happy with it. I've seen the pictures it takes and I was somewhat jealous that the little camera could do these things. I carry a variety of lenses etc, and have a high end camera so that I can account for almost any situation, or switch on the fly, but if you're primary interest is to take pictures of your dogs, or family events, etc. and aren't going to get too serious into many aspects of photography, then I would suggest this camera for anyone. This camera is at Henry's now for $679. If anyone is interested in this, check out www.henrys.com. He also told me that if anyone is really interested, to send them to see him at the store in Waterloo and he can take care of you... he usually tries to cut me a break, or people I refer. I will also direct you to the following website www.squidoo.com/top-rated-digital-slr-cameras-2009-2010 which lists the top 10 dslr cameras for 2011/2012. Note that 4 of the top 5 are Canon cameras, and the top 4 are all under $1000, and they include the body and lens. Now keep in mind that you can always expand and buy better lenses, grips, batteries, flashes, etc. The list is endless if you decide to take it further... as Gary is about to find out. If anyone needs help with a photo, editing, colouring, removal of objects etc... just email me at ian@bocaseyphotography.ca or Monica can send me anything as well. Please indicate what you need done with the photo and I'll get to it as soon as I can.

Ian I would like some suggestions on software for photo editing what you use/like. The programs I'm using are very basic and old.
PM or give me a call when you can for some software tips.

Yup, that is the camera I just bought, the Alpha, and so far I am pretty happy with it. As long as it has all the basic hardware, DSLR, HDMI, and interchangable lenses.... I'm happy. I can upgrade lenses when I have the money and my camera is pretty decent. You don't have to get the $1400 Carl Zeiss lens, you can get lenses for a couple hundred bucks that will get a decent job done. Anyhow Ian, check your email. I have edited your chilly dogs duo and will be using it. I've asked if you have any other pics from that lot that you could use to add width to the canvas of the shot I will use. Otherwise that one page will just have a thicker margin. And at this point I am thinking of doing two calendars, a puppy one would be the second one. I've been working on this like a (this insert for you Andreina) "frigger".... lol. Almost done, at the final editing stage. I'll have a look to see if there are any pics that I can send your way for assistance on Ian, but again, check your email and I've already asked for a couple things. The calendar will be awesome, and I can tell you that everyone will have their dog in the calendar in some capacity. When you see the finish product you will understand why some pics could not be used as a full 8 1/2 x 11" print. But I have my ways of getting everyone in this calendar and it is tastefully done if I must say so myself.

Hi Everyone, I`ve just checked the status of the calendar arrivals and Canada posts shows that they left for Belwood today. The requests kept coming in after I placed the initial order, so I had to place a second order which should arrive next week. From the first shipment I will honour the original orders, however I will give priority to those that needed the calendars as Christmas gifts, and who would like to come and pick-up their calendars tomorrow. I`ll send an email out to confirm this. I wanted to keep the contents of the calendar a secret, sort of a Christmas surprise. You know its coming, just don`t know what it will really look like. However after the initial orders have been received I will publish the calendar so that everyone can see what it looks like. Extra calendars were ordered in case anyone wants another one.

I just wanted to touch on this. I gave everyone an opportunity to send me their pics that they wanted to have considered for the calendar. I also tried to used pics that I already had on file, or on this forum. This was a very large project to tackle over a short period of time and there was no way that I had enough time to actually sift through hundreds (more likely thousands) of pictures from several different photobook accounts. Most photobooks publish the pics for the web, even the largest file tends to be only big enough to print a clear 5x7 once the pixels are condensed. The calendar is an 8 1/2 x 11. So not only did I have to sift through hundreds of photos, I had to edit them, take out poop in backgrounds, eye goopies, drool, and most importantly I had to adjust them to a working CMYK file and save them in a print ready version. Only then could I decide which photos were big enough and clear enough to use as a full page in the calendar. Ideally I would have liked to ask for a vote on the photos used, but there just wasn`t time. Plus I tried to include the dogs from everyone that sent in a response. I will set-up a thread to start the photo contest for next year`s calendar. The pics will need to meet print quality criteria in order to be selected for a full page illustration. For example, a web ready photo will be saved at 72 DPI, full pic size might be around 150-300 kb. The files I submitted for print were between 6-12 MB and 150-300 DPI. But I will cover all the requirements in the other thread. Lana, I did see afterwards that you had posted some pics of Diesel with Jo. But the calendar was already long gone. I did get a pic of Diesel in the calendar though, so I don`t think anyone was missed.
