The calendars will be guaranteed to arrive in time for Christmas. I will be submitting the material tonight. Watch for you email in case I need a full print quality version of your photo. So you all have the rest of today to send you favourite pics. Remember to choose photos that are crisp. Even cute shots can't be used if they have flash eye (red or blue in the eye), if they're blurry, or if the file isn't going to be large enough for print. Typically a 320 DPI that will print out in a 5x7" will work. But I'm sure we can work with a good quality photo if its smaller then that too, I'd say a min of 200 DPI though.

Lovely shots of beautiful Scarlet. Her focus is captured nicely in the second shot. Gary you have nice lens I am buying new ones tomorrow. What do you think about 18-200mm Canon EF-S? Or you are Nikon user?

I went Nikon Lisa. My dad way back when he was alive and into photography was a Nikon user so that's one of my reasons for Nikon. I was watching for a long time for a sale and Best Buy had the Nikon D3100 with 18-55 MM Zoom (1:25-5.6) and the 55-200 MM Zoom (1:4-5.6) as a package and priced really good compared to what I had seen to the date. Top it off they had black and red body options. I'm a sucker for red, love the color, and had never seen a red camera body so I bought the package for myself for my birthday.
I'm still learning the camera. i don't know 10% of what it can do, but even with my limited knowledge of the camera, I can see a huge difference in picture quality over my old crappy point and shoot. Ian is a Canon guy through and through and he's a good photographer too so he's a good person to ask about a lens choice for a Canon.
If you don't have a lens in that 200 MM range of zoom I would say get one. Just the small amount of shots i've been doing I see already espically with the dogs running like they were at Woofstock the 200 Zoom is really much better to capture shots over the 55 zoom.
I didn't bring the 200 zoom to Woofstock and found I really needed it. I was taking shots of Zeus free running at the track recently and brought the 200 zoom and way better to get what I wanted for shots.
When I was researching DSLR's anything Cannon or Nikon looks to be very close. Eeven between the level I bought and the next level up in both brands the difference comes down to some of the features being more or less. I know for what I wanted at this point the camera I got fit my requirements really well and I wanted to be in under a grand taxes and everything in and have 2 lenses. I did that and didn't hit my $1K cap.
I was in Costco after and they have an older version Nikon 5000 range series...it caught my eye when i saw the 5 in the name, with 2 lens but it's obviously a clear out item without HD video capability, it had video just not HD. ( my camera has that). I'm happy with my purchase so far.
Like I said still learing all the settings and Ian's been a good guide for suggestions on setting choices, but I think he doesn't want to touch the red body Nikon too much as he might get a rash from being a solid Canon guy LOLOLOLOLOL

I emailed some to Monica she sent me an email request. I don't have much with the new camera and I know she needs good quality so I gave her some shots but from my new camera I don't have very many of Zeus. I have a few head shots of him with his new collars. dobereich.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=videos&action=display&thread=256&page=1Some there 3 or 4 running at the track and that's about it. I haven't had my new camera long enough or opportunity to get some special shots of Zeus.

Lovely shots of beautiful Scarlet. Her focus is captured nicely in the second shot. Gary you have nice lens I am buying new ones tomorrow. What do you think about 18-200mm Canon EF-S? Or you are Nikon user? Lisa, I haven't used the 18-200 lens, but it seems like a very wide range and applicable for many uses. With such a wide range I wonder what the sharpness would be like. I have an 18-55, a 70-200, a 120-400, a 50mm prime I find that for portraits I use the 50mm prime more often, it's a 1.8 and it's great in low light. Both my 70-200 (2.8) and my 120-400 (4.5) are Sigma lenses. I really like Sigma, and find that the quality is just as sharp as Canon lenses, but usually at 2/3 the price. I don't like paying the extra for the name. My 70-200 was almost $1700 where the same lens from Canon was going to be closer to $2500. Just something to consider. The aperture rating is also paramount depending on what you're going to shoot. The lowere the #, the better it will be in low light situations. I use my 70-200 a lot, and that's what I shot most of the dog park pics with at D.O.G. 4... however, when I'm shooting sports I will use the 120-400 more often so I can get in tight from far distances. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to shoot me a message. Lenses are addicting though and can get quite expensive... so my best suggestion is to find out what you're primarily going to be shooting and get the lens that best fits that situation to start.
