It says +2 here, with -2 after windchill and calling for freezing rain. Cancelling my family event tomorrow, at least we're discussing that right now too.

in London, they're still not sure how bad this storm may be. They're telling people to get flashlights, water, canned goods ready in case we lose power due to the freezing rain. We may get some tonight, a break tomorrow morning starting again in the afternoon thru the evening..."maybe". It's supposed to be the worst just north of the city and a straight band thru to Markham. Kerrie and I have decided to stay home and not challenge the roads or weather this Sunday. I propose a date early in the New Year.

Unfortunately were gonna stay close to home as well tomorrow. Hoping we can reschedule soon! Too risky of a drive through the dark side roads.

Think you're very wise to call tomorrow off. Here in TO, the roads were fine when we drove to Jack's hiking area this afternoon. Just wet. But by the time we finished the hike at around 5 p.m., the little used road into the area was already starting to get slick with ice.
We did our normal hike, but Jack got only a few throws of his ball at our usual stopping spots. There was a thin coating of ice on the snow and we were worried about his injuring himself when he broke through it while running. So he didn't get to play fetch. (We will pay for this later. LOL.)
When we got up this morning, the trees in our neighbourhood were covered in a thin coating of ice and remained so all day. So when the temp drops overnight and if the second go of freezing rain materializes, I expect lots of limbs will be down.
Stay safe and snug, everyone!

My family event was cancelled and perhaps rescheduling for Sunday or Monday, depending on when the storm breaks. So for the now, the Dobereich Christmas get together is cancelled.
Andrea went to get Sandra from work at 5:00 pm. Of course our road was terrible, but the main roads were just wet. By 6:30 when they were on their way home it changed and Andrea lost control of her truck, landing safely into a ditch just mins from home.
If you don't need to go anywhere.... stay home and stay safe!

Good morning
I agree.....London seems to have escaped the horrible ice effects with minimal damage thruout the city, but the rain has not let up, and I am really worried about the effects of flooding. Watching the dogs do their business outside this morning is just a reminder of how slick the snow is also this morning. Please be careful walking your dogs today......and of course yourselves.

Thankfully your girls are OK after their driving adventure. Just shows how quickly things can deteriorate.
Jolly fine day up here this morning (sic) . . . snowed again last night and now we are getting freezing rain on top. This is the first day in months that I haven't taken Quin to his beloved trail. Even he didn't want to stay out . . . did his business and wanted right back inside.
Now he's moping and won't eat his breakfast. While I was shovelling the driveway, he stole one of my socks in protest and he hasn't done that in ages... LOL. Yes it's going to be a loooong day.

it's going to be a loooong day. Long doesn't quite cover it here Susan. Our power just came back on after close to 9 hours off and we apparently got off easy. Everything here is covered in about 2 cm of ice, the car, the house, the driveway, the deck... Poor Juno... I had to stop her at the door in the basement and calm her down before letting her out I was afraid she would blow a knee running out onto the patio ice...she didn't want to be out in the rain anyway...so glad the power came back was getting cold in the house...and yes, I missed the TV babysitter too! There's only so long you can take those big blue eyes looking up at you with the TV remote in his hand saying, "boots, boots, boots". Dora gets second billing in our house! He's watching now while I wait to speak to Rogers about why I have no phone... Hopefully everyone else had a safe day. Martin

Well this morning both dogs went outside slowly, thank goodness. Kazi normally bolts out the door and this morning I was so worried also that she might hurt herself. Thankfully, she didn't care for the rain so she walked out gingerly and Dante did the same. Can't say the same for my niece and nephew and Cleo in North York as they've been without power for over 24 hrs now. Thankfully they have a wood-burning fireplace in their home to keep the 1 level warm, but this afternoon the tree in their front yard snapped with the weight of the ice and snapped the hydro line from the street to their home, so they're now in double trouble. Depending on the time of service with their hydro provider, they may not make it home to London for Christmas....that sucks! So best wishes go out to them as they struggle to make the best of a bad situation.

Lots of cities in my area have been without power since Saturday night. Thankfully ours came on Sunday morning. But you know our huge yard with huge trees? Not so pretty. We have large branches everywhere and on top of our garage over to our neighbors that were going to need a chainsaw to help us out. I think morE fell last night and a big branch also damaged my windshield and dented my car in. Now have to deal with insurance today. Well it can always be worse thankfully no one is hurt and were all doing what we can!

Candace, Ardy and Cleo are now in London. Candace texted me when they arrived saying she was so happy to see no ice, no snow, and have POWER! lol. They expect that their house will be out of power for the week....unfortunately for them a branch fell and damaged the main hydro line to their house, so they have to get that repaired also. They shut the main water off to the house and drained the lines, and packed up and headed to London to share Christmas with us. Well at least they're safe now...

I hope that everyone had a very Merry Christmas this year, and all of the dogs got a little something from Santa in their stocking.
We have been lucky to have had a white Christmas this year, especially since last Saturday it was raining buckets. To our friends in Ontario who have experienced power outages this Christmas, we wish you heat and hydro soon. We tried to "not spoii" our dogs too much this year, but family took care of that. lol. I just want to wish all of our Dobereich family a very Happy Holiday Season as we head into the New Year.
