We kind of had a unofficial D.O.G 1.5 meet yesterday at the UKC Show in Erin. Hot was the understatement.
Half way thorough the afternoon there were no dobermans around! They were all sitting in the running trucks with the air on full blast and the owners were sitting in chairs under the tent in the heat.
Those nuts enough to be out in the heat for the day.....
Monica and her daughter with Cajun, Apollo, Eden and lovely little red pup Autumn
Gary and Zeus
Mandy with Cynder
Barb and Kerrie with Dante and Kazi.
I don't have the official Saturday results and I'm sure if I'm wrong the ladies will correct me.
Cynder got Best Female and/or Best Opposite. She was in both Saturday shows. I know Monica said she earned a bunch of points towards her UKC CH. I may not have he wins exactly correct.
Autumn got Best Doberman Puppy both shows and competed for Best Puppy in Show both shows.
Cajun did her 3rd Lure Coursing run ( she did 2 runs last November) so she would have a Lure Coursing Title. She's amazing to watch on the lure coursing, focused and great drive running and never stopping. In fact she was ready to go again and again ;D ;D. I saw her do it the 1st time last Novemeber and I chickened out to try Zeus then and regretted not trying.
Cynder was not interested and came back to be with the group
Barb and Kazi tried and I think Barb should have got the ribbon as she went about 150' WITH Kazi more than any other owner and then Kazi decided to stop and drop Barb a prize So Barb got a blue bag prize for her efforts!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I tried Zeus on the lure coursing this time not being a chicken like last Nov. My worry was his recall, but it was all in vain as when he was about 100' farther than Kazi went, he looked back and saw me standing and decided that was far enough and came running back, 3 times he tried and all 3 a carbon copy. The 3rd time he went over by the fence and dediced it was fair game for a big pee to mark his turf ;D ;D ;D.
So Zeus didn't get any ribbon for completing one pass of the course but the win for me was the satisfaction that he didn't run off too far and recalled himself and i didn't get a blue bag prize like Barb
The heat was brutal on all the dogs of all breeds and owners in the whole show. Coolers with ice water and cool coats everywhere for dogs, some dogs shutting down from the heat. It was just brutal and really too hot for showing and being out in the heat most of the day. I know Monica's daughter got a slight heat stroke and I know I did for sure by the end of the day.
Hopefully if Monica and Mandy went back today Sunday they had a great day in the ring and some more wins and it seems the weather will be cooler and better suited for dogs and owners.
I took a few shots, Kerrie was doing many and some video so hopefully she will share some of the good pictures.
