Thanks Barb =) It was nice to see more of Apollo's personality and let him meet all of the dogs this weekend since he is still a new addition for me. I was impressed with Dante and him because they didn't seem to mind being close by and minded their own business and he had a nice little flirt with Kazi. lol. I definitely feel like we made a stronger bond as well because it gave me a chance to work 1 on 1 with him. I'm just happy he's fitting in great, loves the pugs and is easy going enough to put up with my old boxer girl who is growing more fond of him every day. I'm glad everyone showed up at least for the first day, it was nice seeing all the dogs and chatting even though my brain was half cooked from the sun! ;D ;D

OMG, Gary you crack me up with the "blue bag surprise". Oh Dyanne, poor Bill will never live down Jack's little bag of tricks eh. The results are pretty accurate Gary. Cynder got winners female for the first 2 shows on Saturday, but didn't get past the winners male to make it to the breed competition. The UKC works a bit differently then the CKC. The age classes and groups are different, but they still judge the dogs first, youngest class to oldest, then the first place of each age class competes for winners male, repeated process for winners female. Then here's where the UKC differs greatly. They judge the winners male and female afterwards for 'best of winners', then they judge the champions as a class on their own. Afterwards the first place champion class winner goes against the 'best of winners' for 'best of breed.' There was a decent turn out of champions, they compete like this in attempts to get a grand championship. The male that beat Cynder on Saturday for Best of winners was in the champion class on Sunday, but this time he couldn't get past Cynder for breed. She took best of breed both shows Sunday, moving on to get a group second and a group first...making her a contender for Best in Show. Cynder is only 2 years old, so I think she did pretty good. I also haven't handled Cynder since December 2009, so she and I had to get acquainted in the ring again too. Apollo had his first entrance into the ring and I so we took it pretty easy with him. Wanted it to be fun more then being concerned with winning. For those who haven't watched a show, the dogs have to stand still while a judge examines them from tooth to toe nail. Some handlers worry about their dogs shying off, but Apollo took the opportunity to get some lovin from the judges and once he saw them approaching, he would break the stand to go greet them.... it was pretty cute, not a mean bone in that dog's body. It didn't take him long to get the hang of what was expected of him though, and by the last show on Sunday he pulled off a winners male for his first show win. The UKC will be running the lure coursing again in November. So much fun to see the dogs doing something just as a dog should. The course is really big and for some it gets unnerving to see your dog off leash and so far away. The Dobes sense that vibe from their owners as well, and being a breed that was bred to stay close, it showed with some of the owners and dogs this past week-end. Poor Zeus, he wanted to go, then thought...hmmm, I think I'm getting too far away to be able to protect my dad. Cynder made a straight B-line right back to Mandy and didn't even care to look at the pelt on the move. Kazi was hopeful though, if she can out-run Barb I think she will run the entire course in Nov. ;D Just kidding Barb. it was nice to be back out competing, but it was even nicer jumping in the pool after being baked in the sun. Thanks Barb, Kerrie, Gary, and Mandy for coming out and sharing the day with Andrea and I.

I'm not sure for Lure Coursing Joanne, but I will find out for you. For CKC conformantion yes they have to be intact, for UKC they do also but UKC does have a class for altered dogs just don't know details.
I'll find out Joanne. The next UKC event around here is Nov in Brampton so lots of time till then.

Even if they aren't showing? www.ukcdogs.com/WebSite.nsf/Rules/DELureRegulationsGoverningUKCLicensedThis is what I've found and I would say reading it Reyna would be considered LP Limited Privledege because she is spayed and would be allowed to compete in Lure Coursing. You would need a TL Number from the UKC for the event or a UKC registration that you can get. You just want to try it so I would just go for the TL # unless you want to have Reyna UKC registered. I got a TL # for the show last July for Zeus and then decided to just get the full registration because I was planning on UKC conformation shows so it just made sense to get the full deal. It wasn't very expensive and with the CKC registration and the pedigree you have of sire and dam and back it's pretty easy to apply for UKC registration. They send a nice pedigree/registration form back that's cool too and actually nicer than the CKC registration certificate. I'll email UKC and the Maple Leaf Kennel Club and ask for Reyna.

AWESOME!! Thanks so much Gary!!! I think the Lure Coursing is right up Reyna's alley, but we shall see... I also told Andrea (Lola's mom) about it, and both of us agreed that Lola would LOVE it, as she's quite the little 'hunting dog' at heart!!

Yeah I'm interested as well. Even to come out to the next event and see what goes on would be fun. I don't know what activities are in Scarlet's future I just know I want to get involved in something with her!

I'll tell you something that's pretty cool to try for and there is testing at various places around the GTA. You need to work on your obedience stuff prior and leading up to the actual test. CKC CGN - Canine Good Neighbour. The title is good for life once the dog has it and it goes towards showing the dog has good temperment and you and the dog have a good relationahip. It's fun too. www.ckc.ca/en/Default.aspx?tabid=91Here are the details of the actual testing criteria www.ckc.ca/en/portals/0/pdf/Other/CGN%2012%20Steps.pdfHere are the dates and locations, scroll through Ontario lots of them around www.ckc.ca/en/portals/0/pdf/PDFEvents/CGN%202011%20Events%20WEB.pdfI see one at Pawsway down by the waterfront August 6th. That would give Reyna and Diesel a week of crash obedience refreshers and they could both walk into D.O.G II with CGN titles LOLOLOL. Seriously look into it and trying the test, good for you and the dog. There is lots of opportunity through the year to test out. I went to one at Pawsway and as it turned out Eric was there with Isys so we did it together and that was way better having someone I knew and another doberman too.
