I hate this time of the year. As much as we welcome the warmer weather, the mud is crazy-bad with the two dogs. The balloon boots are pretty good, but Kazi is so hard on them. She rips at least 1 per day with her running, and running, and running. Then there's perfect Dante.....ah, what more can I say.

For the first time since the ice storm, we've been able to go on our daily hike without wearing our ice cleats. And Jack is finally able to play fetch again -- after a 3-1/2 month layoff. I'm surprised that he wasn't more out of shape than he was. To me, this is all worth a few extra loads of laundry and some towelling off before Jack gets into the vehicle. Besides, Jack absolutely loves being towelled off. He practically groans with pleasure as he's being rubbed down.

Well the raw feeding is going very well with Dante and Kazi. They both are so excited about eating their dinner, it is so amazing to watch them enjoying their food so much. I had a quick laugh with my staff today as I asked them what they had for each of their meals yesterday......cereal, a sandwich or leftovers for lunch, banana.....blah blah blah. Meanwhile, Dante & Kazi had their normal breakfast with yogurt, beef ribs in the afternoon as a snack, and chicken meat with tripe .... lol.

Oh Dyanne, our boys are such suckies. Dante also loves when Kerrie rubs him down. It is nice now that the ice has melted, and like you it does feel that we had a long winter with the dogs as it felt that they were shut in. I'm so glad to hear that Jack is back to his happy self, and hasn't lost any of his agility. Hugs and kisses to him, and you guys.

So Kerrie and Kazi took off yesterday to The Bend for a "girls night out" while Mr. Man and I stayed home. Kazi got to experience lots of new smells as summer is "very slowly" approaching. From being an "only dog" for a 30 hr period, she got to meet kids, people, entertained in her home and visited people. She had a blast. She has been sleeping since shortly after dinner---she didn't sleep at all today as she was sooooo busy. Meanwhile at home, Dante missed Kerrie terribly. (sigh) He had his 5 minutes of Mommy-time when she got home....and he was smiling for at least an hour after her arrival. As for the 2 dogs meeting again....Kazi was reminding Dante that she was home and she is boss. (sigh)

Yesterday, as some of you have read from Dobereich Dobes, we visited Monica yesterday for a 1) visit with her 2) visit with Andreina and Julian and the "girls--Cajun and Scarlet" 3) Jo and Indi and Reyna, and of course Andrea and Dan. Hahahaha....what a visit. Plus, Monica and Kerrie were to take staked photos of the Cajun/Duke puppies for Monica. During the afternoon, the dogs got to run on Monica's property which most of you know is a few acres. Each of our 2 dogs ( it was the 2 dog owners club..lol ) ran with their BFF and each set had a blast running in the yard. A quick stop at Ren's first for our 2 for a new JollyBall for Kazi and a new "indestructible ball" for Dante ( that one is still in the testing period )----hint-for those of you visiting Monica I implore you to first check with her to see if she wants anything from there BEFORE you arrive at her home. lol. The dogs got to run, we got to get reacquainted after a few months and a long winter with everyone, followed by dinner using a new recipe from Jo's new cookbook ( available now in stores near you ) and there was no stopping us as we all headed into the basement for a playdate with 12 very cute and cuddly and curious puppies. WOW..those puppies are amazing. Each is gorgeous, each is bright, I saw so much of Cajun in so many of them. I want to say I am so happy for the prospective new adoptive families of these gorgeous dogs....whichever dog you and Monica ultimately choose for your families know you are getting an amazing dog. I'm so glad we got to see the puppies....we both had a great day yesterday with our friends/our extended family.

Hope Monica did a thorough head count after you left Barb. Are you sure you didn't slip one under your arm . . lol. Sounds like you all had a great time playing with the pups.
Incidentally what is the "indestructible ball" you buy for Dante? The Quinster is due for a new one for outside. The winter survivors are looking a bit grim and grungy.

Well we stopped at Ren's, and it is really called something along the line of "a virtually indestructible ball". It really couldn't get any easier. It was beside the JollyBalls if that helps. It is approx. *8.50 each, and so far they haven't chewed thru it yet. They can barely get their jaws around it.
So, how is that big guy Quinn? He must be getting huge....can't wait to see him, and of course you. lol.

Hey . . I'm just Quin's chauffeur. . . lol. He's doing great thanks, still hanging in around 76 lbs but he's going in for the Big Snip on the 22nd. Yes it's time for the wallynuts to go..lol. He's mature now and showing far too much "interest" in the little girl next door and as she isn't spayed yet we have to watch him like a hawk.
Besides, he's going to be 3 in Aug and I think he'll be less of a target to other dogs once it's done.I'm getting sick of the aggression he seems to trigger being intact - even from neutered males and he seems to be especially persona non grata with black labs. What's with that? His best buddy is a mellow-yellow lab but I swear every black one we encounter curls the lip and would be on him in a flash if not leashed. Are you still planning to do Dante? I remember he got a reprieve when Kazi hurt her foot last year.

Well as you know, it will be Kerrie's decision. I believe it will be sometime this year though...he will be 6yrs. old in Novemeber, and we don't want him to have any health issues. It will be a completely different look for Mr. Man once they are gone...we will have nothing to rub for "good luck". lol.
Well don't worry about the weight. Dante didn't finish growing until he was almost 3 1/2 yrs. old. Since starting him on the raw feeding he has probably settled in the mid 90 lb range, but he has really muscled up. He is a very lean, very muscular looking dog now. As for Ms. Kazi, she looks like she has gained weight, but you can see she has displaced the weight...collars that were tight last summer on her now fit her. Yet she and Dante look very similar in weight....that's why she wears the bright pink collar so we can distinguish between them quickly. ( sad eh )

What a gorgeous weekend we had this weekend. The sun was shining....the temps were mid 20's....and the rain held off. The dogs have been with Kerrie since Thursday-Tuesday enjoying the time in our modular home at The Bend. It's about 700sq. ft, just large enough for the 4 of us. We have about a 60 x 60 ft lot, with a 30 x 12 ft enclosed deck .... they are doing really great there. Tonight we ran each of them in the back field and they loved it. Kerrie's son came to visit for Mothers Day, and Joey and Dante were running in the back field....and they were neck/neck running. Man is Joey ever quick!!! Next was Kazi's turn, and she did her best to catch him but was a little slower than Dante. After that, both of us headed back to London, which allowed the dogs to go to sleep. lol. Kerrie says that Kazi has been snoring ever since while Dante is fast asleep and twitching.
This morning I woke up to --- the 4 of us in bed. Dante, Kerrie, Kazi and myself lying in that order from side to side. Thank goodness we have a king-size bed! lol. It's amazing how such big dogs can "quietly and gently" climb into bed and crawl into place unnoticed.

Gino and Asha opened the swimming season today! Asha did not want to get out of the water. When we came back she wanted to stay on the deck all evening. Outdoorsy girl like her sister.

And no doubt Gino was inside, by your side. Sounds like our house! The dogs were at the vets on Wednesday getting a full blood panel done so that we have a "base" as they have started the raw feeding. Dante has been "off" for the past couple of weeks---I think he had a touch of something as he was low key and wasn't eating as he normally does, so it was a good coincidence that the appointment was made. Everything is fine though, but we laughed as we got "new" weight on both of the dogs. Each has lost weight since we started the raw.....and of course Dante has as he was having some loose stools--throwing up. Well.....each dog now weighs THE SAME! Hahahaha.....I couldn't believe it when Kerrie told me...88.2 lbs.. And Kazi has lost weight to end up at this weight! We actually noticed that her neck was not so "rolly" as she has been able to wear some flat collars that were too tight a few months a ago...the weight is shifting for her, and apparently is coming off slowly. So that 's good news. Dante appears to be at the end of this bug he has as he is eating better again, and Kerrie says he looks like he is getting a little "thicker" in the back end. It's amazing how he slims out in his waist area...I wish I had the ability to loose weight in certain areas like he does!

Kerrie told me tonight that Kazi was trying her best to get Dante to play with her---throwing her ball at his face, picking it up and tossing it again to him..but nothing would make him get up and play with her. Poor little girl...she had nobody to play with. Kerrie was saying she took them out to another large field near Grand Bend today and they ran..and ran...and were passed out again just after they ate their dinner. They certainly do enjoy their runs!
