It was at the Bend. At home our fence is 5 ft to 6 ft high...and she hasn't even tried to jump it..lol. But at The Bend, the top of the railing is hip-waist high, and because we have a woods-field on the one side of us the squirrels, rabbits, stray cats, chipmunks, .it's all there for her to see. And for whatever reason, Sunday she decided to jump over the railing and go chase the wildlife. It absolutely shocked me....I panicked. Then there's Kerrie....calmly going outside and calling her, knowing that she would come back. And then there's me...still panicking. LOL. And back she comes, and it's "good girl"...and I'm still panicking!
You're right Susan. Kazi is a character. Only 1 1/2 more years before she calms down! hahaha...I'm not sure I will survive!

Asha just looked at me... "Hips-waist high.. phew... i will jump it in a second. My mom almost got heart attack when I jumped 3ft high barb wire and disappeared to talk to deer for a few minutes. I always come back! Why does she worry? I heard Kazi made her mommy worry too..what's wrong with you humans?"
Our fence is 6ft high. I think for now it's safe LOL

Yes Lisa, for now we are safe. Thank goodness we have eachother to go thru our girls "growing years" together...lol. It seems the brothers are all sweet and cuddly ( definitely have Juno's soft side ), and our girls have inherited Rogun's wild antics. I couldnt' wait for her to become 2 yrs old...then I was praying for 3 yrs old...and now I'm praying for 5 yrs old hoping she will calm down by then. Hahaha. God give us strength and serenity.
I forgot about the incident of Asha running with the deer. Oh my goodness. What a silly girl.

Oh I forgot to mention that Kerrie and Kazi went swimming in Lake Huron Wednesday, and Kerrie said that she just ran into the water and started swimming. The Pinery has 9 beaches, 1 of which is a dedicated dog beach. They took their orange ball, and apparently Kazi was quite hiliarious as she tried to swim up to her ball and bring it back. She was making so many waves that she was pushing her ball out further and further away from the shore. She definitely needs more swimming lessons this year, and I went out and picked up 2 pool noodles to put under her when we work with her. Anyways, like her sister Asha, Kazi loves the water.

Too bad we are not in ON... Asha would give swimming lessons to Kazi without pool noodles Don't use any noodles or jackets. Kazi is Asha sister and she will be a great swimmer. We use sticks for fetch in the water. It works better than a ball. Find two large safe (no broken branches, etc)astick. Or buy special flouting toys. A ball is too light and its movement in the water is unpredictable. On the positive side... Asha is the most gentle and sweet hugger. She is very devoted and protective of me. She follows me everywhere. She is lots of fun! Love to play different games with my girl.

I have to remember though to have 2 floating toys as last year we had only 1 for the first week at the cottage, so she didn't share. So the next week we were there we had 1 for each of them, but even though she had 1 in her mouth, she still went after the 1 Dante had. Such a toy hog. So we have rented the same cottage again this year, for 2 weeks, and are again looking forward to going. Here's hoping she doesn't decide to give chase to Bears!
As I'm writing this, we are both in the backyard and a bunny rabbit just decided to "cut thru" the yard, and so the chase was on. Kazi made the bunny double-back though as it couldn't slow down enough to get away from her, so it back-tracked which is where it gained it's advantage as Kazi had to slid to a stop and then turn around and get up to speed. Lucky rabbit this morning...and the neighbours dogs was chasing one out of its yard also..."silly wabbit".

Momma Juno demonstrated the doberbeaver gene today in London when she jumped in the pool when Sebastian was swimming with his Oma. She had to, she didn't know she was jumping in, she thought the floating pool cover was a nice quick shortcut back to me on the other side of the pool...mild panic on my part as she struggled in the cover for a second, but I called and she kept herself coming in my direction and I was able to heave her out of the pool on my side. She tore around like a mad dog after that, happy as a clam, but was extra careful around the pool for the rest of the day! =-)
At least I know she can swim if she has to!

Ahhhh ... so now we have proof that the Dober-swim-gene comes from Juno. Sounds like Kazi and Juno are at the same swimming level too...lol.

Just a quick hello from our little Kazi-girl. The summer is slowly coming to an end, and once again she got to enjoy the summer months with her man Dante at the lake. They "so" love the water....Kazi even went out into the rain to do her business, not hesitating at the door to go outside. So silly but true. She is still in love with the outdoors that I think we should create a little cottage for her in the back yard.

Kazi was a participant in the heart study at the U of G yesterday, and she had a great checkup. Her exam proved she is in great heart health, and we couldn't be happier. AND, she is weighed in at 93lbs....the same as her big brother Dante who also had a great checkup at the clinic yesterday. He participated approx. 3 years ago and there is no significant change from his first visit and his last. YIPPEE!!!! So we are very pleased with our dogs, and with the Dobereich "breeding program".
We also encourage other Doberman owners to take their dogs to the clinic to get checked. Please contact Monica if you need help in contacting the clinic to make an appointment. They charge us a special fee of $125 cash per dog, and all of the monies collected stay with them for the purpose of continuing their research.

To continue on that thought, Kerrie asked if and what they have found over the years relating to the health of the Doberman, and they told her that there has been good research found that will lengthen the life of our dogs should they be diagnosed with the cardiomyopathy disease. So, it is also a benefit to us as owners to keep, or to start checking our dogs at the University of Guelph clinic. If detected in a dog, they have made significant progress where drugs can lengthen the lifespan of the dog. How many of us would jump on that if we had the opportunity.
So again....I "highly suggest" calling Monica and discussing this test with her so that you can ensure the health of your dog, and also help to give research to the clinic to help them to learn more about the disease and how to continue to fight it.

I've been noticing this year, more and more, that Kazi and Dante are "appearing" more like a couple. At first she was like the little annoyance that we brought home which he kept waiting for her to leave. Then he tried to befriend her....not. Then of course she stole all of his toys, clothes, and even tried to share his food with him. She jumps all over him when they're outside playing, or inside for that matter. She won't let him get by the couch if she's laying in his way, and then snarls at him for asking her to move. He barks at her--she snaps at him---done! lol...just a few examples of his life with her, yet, suddenly I see a small change. He's lying down waiting for her to pass by him and she comes up to his muzzle and sniffs him and then gives him 4-5 licks and walks by. She's always full of surprises, adventure, and then on her own terms, cuddles and affection.
Goodness I love this dog!

That's exciting news about Kazi and Dante and their strong and healthy hearts!
I observe the same behavior in our house. Gino and Asha are the best friends now. They protect each other... they follow each other... they play and cuddle. Today in the morning when they jumped to my bed I totally was confused who is who before i found balls LOL
