Hey Monica...I hear you "tried" to walk Dante, but he only had eyes for his Mommy Kerrie. Then you switched and "took the reins" on Kazi. LOL. She's a handful, as you soon found out. But darn it, she is the sweetest "little" thing.
Yes they had excellent check-ups...so Lisa, we will have MANY more years with our little dumplings!

Big weather storm has come in today dumping lots of rain. Well....Ms. Kazi was outside today for at least 45 minutes. Kerrie put on her raincoat, opened the door, and out she went. Now, she did stand under the protection of a very large tree. but she didn't rush to come in.

Dante was so worried that I heading off without his momma. Kazi and I had a bit of training, she's a sweetheart and responds well when she knows she has to.

Kazi is a sweetheart. She responds very well, but she definitely knows how to work me. LOL. As for Kerrie, she doesn't stand a chance. She is responding to Kerrie as well as Dante is....the training that they have been doing together is really paying off. They definitely have a great bond growing, and she is like a sponge--learning fast and well.

Wow N-litter is almost at 100 threads... but where are the other N-litter folks, it seems its just 2 or 3 now posting. Guess life is less eventful now that the dogs have reached maturity. Which translates to... well behaved adult dogs?

Bahahahahahahah....well behaved adult dogs? Bahahahahahahahahahaha
Yesterday, Kerrie discovered that we have brindle Black/Rust Dobermans.....especially after playing in the yard with eachother. There were splatters of mud on them everywhere. Their face, muzzle, ears, body, legs, belly....hence the term "brindle". After a quick wash, they rested for a bit, and then back outside for round 2, round 3, etc..

I mean we need rain for things to grow into all that nice and pretty. But that doesn't include MUD! Nothing pretty about 3 Dobes running down the hall soaked in mud while you're standing there dropped jaw and towel in hand.

Hahaha....that scene you painted would "kill" me. My OCD would kick in at that point....but not before I experienced a paralyzing moment.
Last night Kerrie and Kazi were sitting around a fire...Kazi's first fire of her life, and she was a star. She is making her Mommy so proud of her the last 24 hours...they have been tied at the hip (literally) for the past day and Kazi has been amazing. They went overnight for a girls night away from Dante and I, and they have been experiencing all these new things. Another great experience for them both, and of course Kazi is again "cementing" herself in Kerrie's heart. I guess we are going to keep her! lol.
They arrive home later today, and I KNOW for a fact that Mr. Man has been missing his girls! They definitely brighten up his day, and put life into his day. I'm 'ok' to have around, but Kazi gives him a reason to be a dog....he misses his playtime with her.
Hopefully Kerrie can post the pictures she took of her by her first fire.

Did I not say Dante missed his girls....he was all smiles last night, I couldn't wipe it off of him. Everybody got kisses from him, even me. He was so happy to see them..silly boy! Kazi was EXHAUSTED though, and was asleep for most of the night. Kerrie said she wasn't surprised though as she was up most of the day as she got no naps yesterday. She was chief inspector for Kerrie making sure that what was being tossed from the shed was indeed garbage. A very important job for a little girl. She went for about 15 walks around the park, met other dogs and socialized with them and people. She tried to help her Nana eat her cheese, but that didn't go over well for her. Oh well...next time Kazi. And cuddles....Kerrie said the was huddled right up next to her the whole night, apparently forgetting that her bed was on the floor. LOL.
This morning, Dante is still with her...if she goes outside, then he wants to go also. I think he's taken smitten with her.....

Just getting back myself from The Bend....holy shite! The coyotes are "howling" at night. Kerrie was telling me that Friday night there was a "murder" at approx. 4am, and it went on for about 15 minutes. She had to take Dante outside and let him check everything out as he and Kazi were going crazy inside racing back and forth. Best guess is that a rabbit, or a few rabbits, were "lost" and they were within 30ft of our patio doors. So Saturday morning both Dante and Kazi individually scented out the exact same area where there was blood found, and a possum's head. Good grief....and of course Ms Kazi had to go outside at 3am this past morning. So as soon we went outside, it was unnerving to hear the coyotes howling. I couldn't wait for her to finish her business and come back inside...and yes I was outside with her. No way was I leaving her out there on her own! Not sure what I would have done, but I would have made a huge fuss that's for sure.
So, a warning to everyone.....carrying something to protect yourself and your dog while walking in the woods, or wherever coyotoes may be is a good idea. In London, one can purchase a dog repellent at the local flea market. I know that they have been seen within city limits also...so please everyone be very cautious.

Good reminder Barb. I've personally never seen one along the rail-trail where we walk our dogs, but one of my friends has seen a lone individual crossing it in the woodlot that it passes through. Just this morning, I met a friend who mentioned she is starting to carry her metal walking stick again because it's pretty dusky when we get there. (6:30-7am). I prefer not to walk alone until the Fall back time change so I aim for 7am, after the sun is fully up.

Yes, definitely an excellent reminder, Barb. As you know, Jack, Bill and I have had a number of coyote encounters. It's one reason Jack wears an e-collar when we're hiking with him off lead. He will give chase, and the e-collar is the only thing that will bring him back. We haven't spotted any coyotes this summer, but as dusk comes earlier and earlier at this time of year, I expect our encounters will start again. Just last week when we were at the training field at twilight, we could hear coyotes howling in the nearby bush. This is not unusual.
I'm not particularly afraid of coyotes, which tend to be shy of people. Though we once had a pretty interesting encounter with a very bold coyote-wolf hybrid, who was huge and completely unfazed by our presence. I would not have liked to be on my own on that occasion. Fortunately, Jack was quite young at the time, and he was also on lead, so he wasn't tempted to pursue.

Kerrie had a run-in with coyotes when Kazi was less than a year old, and when she could actually "carry her"...lol. The 2 dogs and her were walking in the woods inside the city (behind Parkwood Hospital) mid afternoon when she spotted a coyote in front of her....then to her left, then to her right...and also behind her. She was just walking the path back to the parking lot when she spotted them. Apparently they had already spotted them and were waiting for them on the path. When they work, they usually work in a group, using the 1 in front as a decoy to tempt your dog. After yelling at them and throwing rocks, she finally gave in to the notion that she would have to let Dante loose to defend himself and them. She was carrying Kazi by now, and for whatever reason, they retreated (thankfully). She walked the remaining 2-3000ft back to the truck safely....we then nick-named Kazi "lunchmeat" as she was almost a snack for the coyotes.
I realize that people say they stay away from people BUT we have also heard of stories where they approached a person who was carrying their little dogs and somehow snatched them from their arms. In London, as our city is building new subdivisions in and around the limits, we are also upsetting the natural homes for these animals forcing them to uproot and move, and I think making them less nervous to approach humans/city life.

Hahaha....life is NEVER boring with an N-litter dog. Today Kerrie and the dogs headed back to The Bend and so as part of their routine Kerrie and Kazi went for their brisk walk. They ran into a friend, so Kerrie tied her to a post on her long line while they chatted. Well...something got her attention so she bolted after it....and snapped her latch...and off she went. She had a great run though, and Kerrie said she wasn't worried that she wouldn't come back..she just kept running up and away then around and around again. No doubt as I'm writing this, she's fast asleep. LOL.

So our little "runaway" did indeed have a great run. Kerrie said when Kazi came back to her she sent her away again letting her continue to run...she slept like a baby that night.
A much cooler weekend has passed and the dogs didn't notice that cooler temps. Time to bring out their sweaters/coats and see if they still fit.
