. . . and of course, others interested in schutzhund.
The GSSCC national championships are being hosted this year by Niagara Hundesport during the week after Labour Day. German shepherd breed surveys are scheduled for Wed. and Sun., and trials will be held on Thurs., Fri., and Saturday (Sept. 8, 9, and 10).
We're booked into a hotel and will be there, with Jack, on all three trial days. Don't know whether any Dobes will be competing. It's likely to be mostly GSDs (or GDSs, as Bill and I like to call them -- to get back at the shepherd folk who, when their dogs do something unexpected, joke that they've had a "Doberman moment." All in good fun, of course. Hmmmmm).
The event takes place at ARPAD Park. More info, including maps, etc., is available on this website:

The time of specific events probably won't be posted until after entries close.
The nationals take place in Ontario only every four or five years, so this is a great opportunity to see some topnotch dogs compete at a national level.
A quick note about protocol for those who haven't been to schutzhund events. Unlike at CKC events, where dogs are often right next to the competition ring, it's considered bad form for spectators to bring their dogs near the trial field. On the map, it looks as if the parking area is a fair distance from the trial field, so if you plan to go and plan to take your dog, you'll need to make accommodations, especially if the weather is hot. I'm told that there is some shade in the parking area, but you can be sure that the early birds will snap up the shaded spots very quickly.
