I haven't selected the poll option yet because I am looking into a couple places between Milton and Brampton. But I would not necessarily say that 4 votes for High Park is a leading landslide, especially when 2 of those voters (Joanne x Gary) have said that they're willing to go someplace else as well. Andrea's vote was accidental, don't know how to change it. I just wonder if others aren't posting because they just can't think of a place to recommend otherwise?
A 20-30 min drive for some of the eastern GTA'ers will shave off an hour for those coming 3+ hours from the west. I'm just trying to find something central. As well I would like for the dogs to be able to enjoy themselves with a nature trail rather then walking the Bloor sidewalks. I was going to check out Rattlesnake point in Milton. Won't have time to check this till tomorrow though.
I think the most important aspect of DOG is for Dobereich owners to get a chance to meet each-other and get the dogs together as best as possible (considering the intact males). Share some stories and get to know the faces behind the screen names. But perhaps I am wrong, and so I would love to hear from everyone about what they would like to take out of a DOG walk/meet. I think we can definitely do both a nature trail or a city stroll, and mix it up sometimes.

We don't mind the drive either!! I voted for High Park because I thought it was a central location for all and we really enjoyed the atmosphere last time. Part in the city, and part of it hanging out in the shade under trees. If there is somewhere else Brampton, Milton etc where we can do it Monica that works too. I like the nature aspect and maybe taking a more scenic route where the dogs can run free off leash?? Although I know this won't be particularly possible for the intact males... I know that there are some of us who are fine with the dogs off leash and some are not with good reason, so I think both sides should be given an equal choice. I won't be too much help finding a place out in Milton as it's not my area, but I will google some stuff and see what comes up. I would like to be able to let Scarlet off leash, and have some more play time with the other dogs that are ok off leash as well. Wether it's a fenced in dog park type area or if the dogs are allowed off leash at whichever trail we go to either one works. We have to figure out what's going to work best with everyone. My concern though with doing a trail, is that it can't be too long. Scarlet was passed out after a short play session and what? a 25 minute walk down Bloor? lol, so I don't think we can be on the go for too long with out her power naps. Then again that could change by oct 30th she will be a bit bigger and Autumn could keep her on her toes I am looking at D.O.G as an opportunity for Scarlet to have an awesome time with her other dobie friends, and for Julian and I to get to know everyone better!

I'll travel, try other places etc. I won't go to offleash or dog parks in general. I won't let my dog run offleash with other males, intact or neutered, and for sure not offleash in a dog park with dogs and owners I don't know. IMO if I organize an event offleash is never expected but could be optional depending on the venue.
I like meeting other owners and their dogs, sharing stories, walking and getting exercise, socalizing my dog to other people, places, events and showing off... as in pride of having a beautiful doberman. I like to get pictures and memories for the future.
I want The D.O.G to not be just another bunch of owners standing around a dog park, socalizing and not caring about the dogs as they run around a dirty, dusty dog park and the dogs run but the owners get zero exercise or real interaction with the dogs. I also want to expose the breed and show the general public they aren't killers or what many think a sterotype doberman is. If there is one great take home from the 1st 2 D.O.G meets it's that we were great ambassadors for the breed and did educate people just by doing and also in communication and interaction.
What I would like is to hear from someone outside of those that have come so far to the 1st 2 events.
So please if you have not come out to one of the 1st 2 events for some reason be it - place, date and time, format, don't like organized things, dog isn't social enough, etc what ever reason but you would like to if XXXX was to happen post up please.
I already know those that have come will come again same format, new format, same place, new place........ BUT Let's hear from others with or without interest that haven't said anything. We have 60 members and tons of guests that are coming in to the website each day for a look so the silent ones please share your opinion.

I called Halton Conservation and taked with them about D.O.G 3rd meet being there Oct 30th. We are welcome and it sounds like a great nature environment. All dogs must be leashed at all times, no offleash anywhere. $6.25 per person per day. No problem doing a picnic afterwards. RattleSnake Point Trails could work They suggested Hilton Falls Trails. I've attached a link and you can open the trail map and see what there. www.conservationhalton.on.ca/ShowCategory.cfm?subCatID=1066Hilton Falls has 16 K of trails Rattlesnake Point as 10 K of trails ( Monica suggested Rattlesnake Point) Post up if you like Rattlesnake Point? If there is interest I just may check it out this weekend myself. Anyone that cares to join me on a scouting mission this weekend PM me. I've attached Rattlesnake Point trails here. Attachments:

Here is Hilton Falls Trail guide. It'a all bascially the same general area. but the guy said RattleSnake had more camping area etc and the trails length at Rattlesnake Point, by the map anyway, looks to maybe be a better fit for what we are trying to do. Have a look at both maps Attachments:

Count us in for October 30, weather permiting of course. We checked out the links, Rattlesnake point looks very nice and appears to offer a lot. The fresh air will do us all good too As we have all indicated before, this forum is a great opportunity to chat with other Dobereich owners and hear/share experiences. The D.O.G. meets are also great to meet the other parents, show of the beautiful breed and let the public know it too!

The best thing about DOG is meeting the other owners, sharing stories, giving everyone's puppy a rub on the head and a few treats, and just having a fun day with our dogs! I also love the fact that we are great ambassadors of the breed, and that will happen anywhere we go! Changing things up to a different location is a great idea, keeps things fresh and fair for everyone, and we might get new people coming out depending on the location too. Reyna LOVES running through the trails, we are lucky to have an AMAZING off-leash trail in the area, Sherwood Park.

I agree. A different location for the 3rd DOG meet would make it fair especially for those who live in the west end. I don't mind the drive either. I'm a maybe for October 30th since I have to switch a shift as I'll be in NYC the weekend before. I definitely want to come but will let everyone know if I'm for sure closer to the date

Lana - send me a PM or better a BBM!
Reyna and Diesel completely LOVE each other... from a DOG perspective, it's one of my favourite things that we have taken away from the group. To have a brother and sister pair be able to hang out together and have fun is so sweet. Lana is a great person all around, and it really shows in Diesel's temperment as well! Maybe it's their breeding, can't speak for the rest of the litter as we don't know where they went, but Reyna and Diesel are 2 peas in a pod. Both are so easy going and sweet, and are completely in love with each other. They are both relaxed, sweet dogs and love to play. I love the fact that this forum has allowed us to get together and keep in touch. Really a unique thing! How many dogs get to hang out with their siblings on a regular basis after leaving the kennel?? Not many!
My other favourite thing about our meetups, is connecting to Gary and his family. Gary has a heart of gold, and I am privileged and happy to call him and his family my friends. Reyna and Zeus also have a special connection, and seem to bond each more every time they meet. Zeus is such an amazing dog, which can be atributed to great breeding and an amazing home with Gary as well.
And this forum has made it all come together.
That being said, with each meetup we meet more awesome Dobereich owners and their loveable dogs. I am excited for the group's future and meeting more friends. I had so much fun chatting with everyone at the last meetup... what a fabulous family! The dogs were so impressive and sweet to top it all off!! It is amazing to meet new friends that share a love that not everyone can understand. DOG will only grow and prosper into a big extended family... I can't wait to see what it's future will bring!

Joanne I'm humbled and truly touched by your kind words. Thank you very much! I feel the same back at ya You too are a special person and so is Reyna. Amazing bond you both have and it's great having you as the D.O.G Social Convenor. I watched how you were socializing and helping the group jell. Yup our D.O.G. family is growing and it's nice to meet other Doberwackos and realize after 2 D.O.G meets that others have the "Doberblood" in their veins just as bad. Anyone up for joining Zeus and me to scout out Rattlesnake Point on the weekend?

Its so nice to hear from everyone enjoying the DOG meetups.....we appreciate moving the location, and also look forward to walking the dogs on the trails. It was a very, very long trip for us. It is so much easier on the dogs also, and they can also run, sniff on trails...you know, be a dog. Things they can't do walking on a concrete sidewalk. We always love walking them thru the trails, and find it very relaxing for us as welll.
I hope that the new location will bring out new people as well. And of course, knowing that Monica and Andrea may be able to attend is an added bonus. After all, it because of Monica that we have Dobereich dogs. So we are glad that she suggested Rattlesnake Point....we look forward to watching our dogs be dogs.

IMPORTANT REMINDER................To be clear about Rattlesnake Point or any of the options in that area related to Halton Conservation......... You have to pay a charge per day $.6.25 per person, and dogs must be leashed at all times maximum 2 metre lead as in standard 6 foot lead.
Dogs ARE NOT allowed to be free running anywhere.
So the dogs are leashed on the trails, they aren't running free etc or out exploring beyond what they would be with a 6' lead on a normal walk. You can't let you dog run free down the trails or open areas etc. That was made very clear to me when I called and espically when I said it was a group of Dobermans and could be between 10-15 dobermans and owners.
Just making double sure that's understood if we pick Rattlesnake Point or Hilton Falls in the Halton Conservation area.
