Diesel knows he's not allowed on furniture, yet he seems determined to claim the armchair as his sofa especially when we're not home. I usually put my exercise ball, cushions or any big object to prevent him from jumping into it. My mother kept insisting that I put a cloth over it so that when we are not home, if he decides to make himself comfortable in it, at least, his hair won't be all over the place. Two nights ago, my mother found Mr Trouble Maker on the armchair and finally decided to put a cloth over it. Diesel hesitated to leave his comfy spot, but my brother was finally able to get him off the chair. My mom was then able to put the cloth over it and told Diesel he can go on it. At first, he was hesitant...then my brother finally said "Diesel sit" He then sauntered towards the chair and instead of climbing on it head first, he turns around (back towards the chair)...wiggles his bum up to sit on the chair while his two front legs are on the floor and his hind legs are up in the air due to the height difference ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Let me tell you how I almost died when I heard the story and was so bummed out that my brother wasn't able to take a pic. I mean I've never heard a dog sit like a person on a chair. Then last night....muahahahahahaha....I caught him!!!!!! Even though my phone was far away...I managed to take a pic before he moved.

I've read many times about dobermans sitting like Diesel did on charis etc but of all our 5 dobermans none have done it. That's cool you have photo proof!!
What's up with his face he looks like he's asleep or in "lala land' in the 2 pictures.
How about smiling dobermans? Oue 2nd guy used to smile like crazy and our 3rd guy Zeus one we could coax smiles out of sometimes but i don't have any photos of them smiling.
Any smiling Dobereich Dobes?

Oh, yeah. Jack is a huge smiler. He won't do it on command, but we're working on this and getting close. And unfortunately, we have no pix as we never seem to have the camera ready when he does it.
The first time he ever did it was as a young pup when we took him to see Monica. When she walked up to his crate in the car, he gave her a huge grin. Of course, we all cracked up and made a big fuss, so he has continued doing this. He thinks he's hilarious, and so do we!
If Monica is at DOG III and we can make it, too, I'm sure he'll be grinning like crazy, and you'll all have a chance to see it.

When I use my cell phone to snap pics of him, the flAsh is automatic and he doesn't like especially when its close to his face hence he turns away from it half the time. Aside from Cleo And Indi, I have never heard or seen dobes sit like that. Although, I have seen a few vids of dobes smiling and I must say I get crack out of it every time I see one.
Anyone else has a whacky story to share? Only other one I can remember and it's because I've seen it firsthand was a certain dobe who has to climb a tree first before taking a #2....*hint* *hint* this dobe's sis is non other thAn Kazi! Lol.

Zeus is a poster child for backing onto trees and trying to take a dump. It's funny as heck how he tries to plant his deed on the tree trunk.

Hey Gary...
Zues and Dante are so much alike in that area....Dante will not do his business unless there is a tree...and not just any tree ..he has to search out that perfect tree...
His ritual is to sniff the tree...Look up the tree....Then he proceeds to try and jump up the tree to the point he is jumping upright in the air with his back legs off the ground..He then stands on his back legs and scratches the tree...then gets into the position and does his business...
It is sooooooooo embarrassing when people are walking by and watching this routine...
Then of course occasionally im bending down to pick up the poop and I get dirt, grass, stones etc thrown on me as he scratches the ground when he is done....

They certainly are unique with their own lil eccentricities:-) Our Kaisa from the P litter soothes herself and calms down by lying really still on top of her blankie, and then putting it in her mouth. Not sure if she sucks on it, but I suspect she might do some of that. I think her mama Cleo does the same thing. Its' too funny to watch. Does anyone else have a dobie that does this too?

Kerrie forgot to mention the fact that when Dante sees "Mommy Monica", he goes NUTS! He absolutely LOVES his Mommy Monica, and has never forgotten her. Whenever he sees her, he is/goes crazy around her.
