Dr. Ogrady got to see Indi and Cajun on Monday and I'm happy to say that both females checked-out with perfect hearts. Even more happy to say that after 12 1/2 years of age Indi still has the heart of a 2 year old. No PVC's, not changes in size, not even a bit of lost function even in her old age. I'm very happy that she is still enjoying life and being active. YAY for Indi!! ;D

I think Indi is a Taurus, May 5th 1998. So this is her semi-annual B.D. When the dobes cross into the double digits, they start getting 1/2 year birthdays...lol.

I didn't know that........... 2 biirthdays a year after 10. That's cool. I think for his birthday just around the corner,Zeus is getting a new Chilly Dogs Great White North coat black with red trim. He loves the one he has and they are the best quality, durability, ease off and on and also warmest of anything I've got so far. It's a secret so don't tell him! Yes Carol really good news to hear about Indi's status!

It was Argus and Juno's turn for their annual cardio rechecks with Dr. Ogrady and both have strong and normal hearts.
Last Friday Juno had a pregnancy ultrasound done and she is preggers, expecting pups from Rogun around Jan 17th.
Argus came with us for a CBC and wellness check-up (I like doing one around age 6 yrs), and I'm happy to report that everything was perfect with him, CBC, kidney's and liver are normal.
It wasn't all good news at the vet's last Friday though. I had the vet check Argus's prostate, and as I suspected, she found it to be enlarged. He's started antibiotics and already feeling better. However it could be a sad glimpse of a potential earlier retirement. Nothing is set in stone, but I might be looking at neutering him later in 2011.

Poor Argus. Did he have symptoms? I wonder about Petey's, he takes a long time to get all his urine out. He is on 2 different diuretics for the DCM.

Poor Argus. Did he have symptoms? I wonder about Petey's, he takes a long time to get all his urine out. He is on 2 different diuretics for the DCM. Ya, there are some things that still have me concerned, and with Argus being such a wonderful dog, I'm just not sure that I want to leave this to chance. The first thing I noticed was he frequency to urinate, and he even had a couple accidents. At first I thought it was due to all the females being in season. As Argus gets older his attention to fertile females seems to increase. But all the females were finished their heat and he still couldn't hold it for more then 4 hours. Then I thought it was due to the snow he had been eating (one of his favourite things BTW). But even after I let him out 3-4 times between 11:pm-2:am, he was never able to make it past 6:am before needing to go out. I've actually never had a male develop prostate issues. Well, a bit of enlargement after age 10. I am familiar with prostatitis to a marked degree. However I'm not sure that this is just an innocent case of prostatitis considering that the vet only felt the right side to be enlarged. I need to research this more, and perhaps bring him to the UOG. They had a prostate clinic about a year ago. I likely missed that research phase, but expect I should at least get some concrete answers after all the research they just did. Poor Petey, he would have to go because of the diuretics. Poor you, I bet your taking him out all the time as well?

I don't know that I would have to say much to Barbara except... "here's your puppy"....lol. Unfortunately I don't have any female reservations left for Juno x Rogun's litter. Guess you'll have to wait and see what she gives us in a couple weeks. maybe a late Christmas present for Kerrie... oops, I mean Barbara!

That's good news, congrats Dante! The heart study is one of those things I wanted to do with Zeus but just have not dedicated.
Love to hear details what you had to do, time to do it, costs etc and how it was for you as an experience and any challenges.
Post away or send an email on it if you care to share.
