If anyone wants to enter this show with their pets just for socialization. I will be attending Fri/Sat, the official show closing is this Saturday. Meaning that up until Saturday the dogs can be entered in the show, then after that nobody can be added. The shows all offer an entry called "exhibition only", which is available to anyone with a CKC registered dog. so its a great place to bring pups for controlled socialization, show practice, obedience practice, etc. I do prefer to have things planned out ahead of time, so if you intend to enter let me know. The fee is $10 for exhibition only. No prong collars, no corrections allowed on show grounds, don`t let your dogs interfere with other dogs, and you must stoop and scoop. But a full list of show rules are listed within the links provided. www.mjnshowservices.com/mjnplists/creditvalleypl2011.pdf

This sounds interesting. So what happens if I go with an exhibition entry? Do we just stand on the side and watch? I've never been to a show before so I'm curious as to how they work. I can still handle Diesel without the prong ...I mean it's easier with it but I can try and do without. He's fine with walking around with dogs in tight spaces and doesn't really pull much. It's usually when his sis or scarlet is concerned...then it's a different story *sigh* I might be in Brampton on the Friday hence why I'm considering it since its not too far from there. Will let you know tho for sure before Saturday.
Which dobe are you bringing to this show? Oh and is this indoor or outdoor?

Will let you know tho for sure before Saturday. Which dobe are you bringing to this show? Oh and is this indoor or outdoor? Anyone can go and watch a dog show, but in order to bring your dog in the show he/she needs to be entered in the event. Mainly the reason for this is because there`s a max amount of dogs and/or people allowed in the building and they need to keep track of their numbers, keep things under control. Trying to avoid the sort of scenario like when a teenager decides their having a party of 20 and then 1/2 the school shows up. A lot of the shows I can bring an extra dog in here and there as long as I`m entered. If you PM me i will give you the info you need to pre-enter as exhibition only. Otherwise if you want to come watch and maybe bring Diesel to another show as exhibition only, there is another show in February in Markham. Bringing the dogs in is for socialization mainly. to have your dogs act well among hundreds of other dogs and people. For those who are going to show those dogs it gives the dog a chance to get used to the environment before actually ever entering a show. Its a lot to take in for a dog, then to parade around the ring and have someone examine their every part... not something that is exactly a part of their every day life. If doing obedience your dog will need to learn how to ignore all the distractions. So this is why i like to recommend obedience students to go to a show, maybe watch some CD in process and see what they will need to do in order to get their title, or simply just to be encouraged and see what they need to work on to have such a well trained dog.

I already PM Monica telling her I wanna go...anyone else interested in going?
As for the one in Feb Monica, will it be in Markham Fairgrounds? That's close to me so I wouldn't mind going to that one either.

Can't go on Saturday, but I see that the show is at the Orangeville Fairgrounds, so I'm going to try to get up there on Friday. My sister lives nearby, so it's a good excuse for a quick visit and a chance to give Jack an off-lead run at her place.
It's also an opportunity (I hope) to reintroduce Jack to crowd situations, and Friday shows usually aren't quite as busy. I'll scout out how strict CV is being about letting unentered dogs into the building. If they're being strict, do you suppose they'd let me pay the exhibition fee at the door?
I checked the website, but I don't see a schedule just yet. Could someone post the time when Dobes are up on the Friday? Monica, are you setting up a crate or table?

The schedule is not up yet, the show just closed on Saturday, so it will likely be another week at least before we see any numbers posted. I'll email you about the rest of your post.

Thanks, Stefan. Perfect time on Friday (I hate early mornings and O'ville is about an hour's drive from our place -- but I guess I shouldn't complain given the distance you're coming.) Sorry we won't be there to cheer on Auguste on Saturday and Sunday.

Very weird that there aren`t any specials entered on Friday. I will say thought that Auguste has his work cut out for him, as I know some of the competition is very well trained and in good shape. We`ll have to work hard for our shot and points. but most important is to make it a fun and pleasant experience for Auguste`s first show. Do not put too much pressure on you or him, just have fun!
