It's raining this morning...well...light rain with a tiny mix of snow. There were squirrels in my backyard which we all know most dobes or dogs for that matter loves to chase...Diesel loves the chase...it's like a racetrack...me opening the sliding door is all the green light he needs to dash out and attempt to catch em'. So here's the story of Miss Princess...I opened the door, waiting for him to storm out like a natural born thoroughbred and nothing. Yup nothing. He stood there then eventually sat like he's on the sidelines of a football game and watched the squirrel action taking place. I actually tried to push him out and wouldn't budge. Official Verdict: Detest Rain!

My dogs LOVE to run in the rain especially after I bought them cool rain coats. I wonder if Monica, Kerrie and Barb brought me not a Dobereich dog My two babies love to travel in my hubby's truck. I drive them in Honda... and they are pissed off...hahaha. Gary you may buy back seats coverage in PetSmart. It's terrific. I use it in my Honda.

Unfortunately ... my Isys too hates the rain. I literally sometimes have to push her out from behind My Ronin is that too bad ... he does not mind the rain. So games to tire them out when it's raining outside ... this has to be their favourite ... run on the treadmill and get a treat! Trust me ... they actually like the treadmill.

Jack gets walked no matter what the weather, but rainy-day walks tend to be shorter and without the kong chasing, so they don't tire him out.
Like Barb and Kerrie, I play hide-the-toy, which he enjoys, but this doesn't tire him out either.
Surprisingly, the game that does tire him out is hide-and-seek. I put him in a sit downstairs, then go upstairs and hide. When I whistle, he comes firing upstairs to find me. I take his Cuz with me, and if he needs a clue or some encouragement, I give it a squeak.
Once he finds me, he runs downstairs and we start again. Perhaps it's the racing up and down the stairs . . . I'm not sure, but whatever it is, this game seems to whack him out thoroughly (which is very, very good).

Zeus has his Chilly Dog Rain Slicker now and since the weekend I've walked him 2 days in the rain with it. With the slicker and the collar up ( he's not used to that yet) and an umbrella we can actually walk in the rain! It's been raining almost constant since the weekend so I had to get him out because he goes nuts if he goes into a 2nd day without a walk. Lana - D didn't fly out the door at the squirrels because you have him so well trained in his sit stay command from obedience training! ;D One day Zeus wants to be like D in following his obedience!

LOL...oh I wish the commands work all the time...sometimes it doesn't...when he's really stubborn...that's when he really tests my patience. Tonight's incident though I can tell you he wasn't just gonna sit and do nothing even if it was raining. We went out for a run and was heading home... as I was pulling up my driveway, a cat was walked past infront of us and did that ever excite him. I waited till it was gone before I opened the door to let the frustrated monster out...needless to say it didn't matter that the cat wasn't in view anymore, Diesel pulled like hell and I didn't have his prong on him and holy crap pulled the shit out of me so I let him go...leash and all...his leash even snagged my car keys...all I saw was D running at lightning speed through the bushes and finally landing on a base of tree (where the cat climbed up to) and was furiously trying to climb it. He barked and tried to get at it....poor kitty...it was just looking at both of us from the top of the tree...scared the wits out of it LOL. ;D Managed to calm him down ...sit and stay and then we were off.
