Atlas is very handsome dude! Are you sure you measure him right? He doesn't look so tall. He has nice balanced body for his age. 70lbs for 7 months is a perfect weight.

I didn't think he was that tall either. I measured him twice and got my husband to measure him as well. I went from the ground to the top of the shoulders (is that correct?). That picture was 3 weeks ago. He has grown taller since then. Also his grandfather is 6'4 so he makes everything look small.

Correction. I just got him to stand still with the measuring tape again and he is 28 inches.

Atlas is a beautiful boy!
Different dogs grow at different rates, but for the sake of comparison, Jack is 29" (officially measured by Monica at a show with one of those measuring frame thingies). I just checked the door jamb where we recorded his growth. At six months, he was 26" and at a year, he was 28-1/2" -- but these were our measurements and probably not quite accurate.
We have his weight recorded somewhere, but I can't find the info. But even now, he's only about 84 lb., so a tad gangly. He's a very active boy!

Atlas is very handsome.....he looks great. Dante was a VERY SLOW grower. He was almost 3 when he finally filled in, and truthfully about 3 1/2 when he finished his last "fill-in" stage. He is now approx. 103 lbs, ... a little over-weight, but finally there. Some boys mature slowly is basically what I'm saying. Patience is definitely a must ... lol

Im not worried about him being small. lol. I am worried about how big he is getting. I was worried if he is already this size, how big he will be full grown. He is perfect weight for his size, he is not fat. He just keeps growing and growing. I think he will be 100 - 110 lbs full grown. His trainer thinks he will hit 110 - 120 which is big.

I don't think he will get that big... he's not neutered already tho is he? He'd very handsome... keep taping the ears tho, looks like you stopped a bit too soon, but you can still get the tips up.

Thanks Monica, Yes I did get him neutered already. He is very dominant. His ears were fine and then just started falling so I am going to re tape them.
Joanne, I live in Scarborough near warden & ellesmere. Where are you? we should have our dobe's meet. Do you go to any dog parks? I like the one at Thompson park.

Neutered males are growing taller... you did it a bit too early.
His growth rate will slow down significantly. They grow like weeds between 4 and 6 months. Most likely he will be ~29" as other males from the Dobereich kennel. I don't think he will ever weight 120lbs... his weight will be between 90-100lbs if you keep him in shape (long walks and no overfeeding).

Oh, puppy dominance has little to nothing to do with sexual dominance, and less to do with the development of dominant aggression. Since these guys are still pups, you were just dealing with plain old pushy male puppy business that needed to be dealt with through training and assertiveness. But that height does come with early neuter, and with the extended long-bone comes risks of ACL ruptures. this is why I have it in my agreement that my male dobes are not to be neutered before 14 months of age. Educated vets are starting to push less for early neuter. Its not in our dog's best interest. I've produced over 350 Dobes in 20+ years and I've known of only two cases of ruptured ACL, both were in early spayed and neutered dogs. Very expensive surgery to do as well ($4000 +). Keep your pet insurance! Anyhow, 28" at 8 months of age, already neutered before hormones were done doing what they had to with regards to growth, you'll likely see a 29-30" adult.
