Hi All, I was wondering if anyone would like to give mono cliffs another shot before the snow flies? September is such a beautiful time of year up in mono, however I can't commit to going so soon after my pups are born. I have to stay close, but could go out for an outing with my friends either the first or second week-end of October (the 6th or 13th). Barb, can you get a Saturday off on either of those Saturdays, and perhaps we can try to get together with some of the people who haven't been able to attend due to the fact that they would Sundays. Now that would also mean that those people will have to come. Without their commitment I wouldn't suggest you much about too much with your work schedule. I know you have your "other" schedule to factor in as well. so I will wait to hear from you, Lana, and a few others before carving any dates in stone. After this hike I think we would definitely opt to eat at a restaurant.

Sounds like a great idea. The weekend of the 6th is out for us as it is Thanksgiving weekend, the closing of the home at the lake...too many other things to do. So how about the 13th, or even the 20th?

Wouldn't this be a better site for say a January or February meet?

Wouldn't this be a better site for say a January or February meet? What? Nooooooooooo. LOL. That was the famous walk that ended with the killer stairs up the high, high cliff -- with each step covered in at least six inches of ice. I have a morbid fear of heights, and those steps nearly defeated me. I really did go up on hands and knees, hanging onto Jack for dear life and trying not to curl up into a whimpering mass of jelly.

Haha yeah Dyanne I remember us holding on for dear life going up those stairs. I'd rather do the trail without snow also maybe we can try a different trail!

Unfortunately, between visitors and having to go out of town twice, October is not a good month for me.
All my weekends are booked except for 6th.

Okay I am going to tie two threads together here. In the September thread the Dobermoms suggested maybe an overnight camping D.O.G. meet. Not sure that October is the month for an overnight, (plus Monica will have puppies still) but Earl Rowe Provincial Park is just up the road from Mono Cliffs. They do have group camping sites. 2 sites for up to 50 people and 1 with room apparently for 100 people. Just saying, that way you could have people stay both days, or come on the one that they are available...my two cents take it for what is worth before the penny is gone forever..

I checked the schedule and the football game is smack in the middle of the day at 2pm... Boo hoo! So looks like it will be a snow hike for me! Ick!

Hahahaha to the idea of a snow hike...2 miles, uphill both directions, in a raging blizzard. While Monica thought it was a nice day, the rest of us thought we had signed up for "boot camp"!
Too bad you can't make it in October as we were looking forward to meeting with you.
Martin, I like your idea of a sleep-over, however I myself would like to wait until next year for that to happen....perhaps a spring walk/camp-over at the same area?? A little warmer temp, brighter nights....

Well the idea (for me anyhow), is to try to accommodate the dog owners who can't ever come to a walk because its on a Sunday. I don't want to exclude those who truly enjoy coming to the meets either. Trying to get the old and the new in for one good hike. Last time I got a chance to say hello to the dogs as I arrived, then I was busy preparing and setting up food... and um, waiting for my clients who were hopelessly lost....lol. So with the food not being an issue this time, I might get a chance to actually chat with the people on the next walk too... ha-ha! Charlie needs to be included in at least one walk before winter, and I don't want to hear anymore about the blizzard walk up hill and along cliff edges. It was a beautiful day, the sun was out, and once you made it up that heart attack staircase up the side of the escarpment, it was a great little run up that last hill. rotflmao. I'm open to suggestions. What I was after was a lovely fall walk where the leaves will still be on the trees. Mono is among one of the most beautiful places in the fall, breath-taking.... lol. sorry, still lol thinking to myself how Dyanne is reading this saying "no kidding it was breath-taking". Oh my goodness, sorry Dyanne. OK, so here's my dilemma. I will be starting obedience training very soon, which takes place on Sundays. So if you would like to have a walk with me, perhaps Thanksgiving week-end would give us several days to vote on. So I'll set a poll and see who can attend which date, then the venue.

OK, the poll is up. You can check off up to 6 times, please use them if you are free, and will attend should we choose your date and venue. I'm completely open to suggestions for other locations. Would be nice to still see some foliage for some awesome fall photography. Bare in mind that I cannot drive too far for this meet as I have the babies at home to get back to. I'd rather spend the time I can allow myself with my doberfriends then driving just to have to turn back and head home. I realize that might not be as fair to the people who are trekking out, we'll make it up to you with a switch-up of location on one of the future meets.

Oh only 6 votes....but I am pretty much available all the time unless my planner (wife) has me sheduled for something else...guess I better check before voting.
