What good is having my own forum if I can't rant at least once...lol. Why on earth do we Canadians, who pride ourselves in being the "friendly country" have some of the worst customer service?
You ever tried getting through to Bell Canada? You call a Canadian phone # and get patched through to a technician in India! We pay top dollar to big business to hire outside of the Canada, then the lucky ones who have jobs here get to pay higher EI premiums as our own employment rate takes a hit.
It takes 2 months to get a CH certificate from the CKC, 2 weeks from the AKC.
Ever order from Amazon? Order from .com and you have your parcel faster and cheaper then if you order it from .ca.
But now the real reason for my rant. I had 4 dogs to DNA test (vWd and colour test) and I decided to split the orders between two labs in order to evaluate their services. The first lab was our very own local business called Healthgene. The second lab was an American company called VetNostics. Both DNA sample kits were mailed on the same day, and both labs received the samples in their lab on Monday the 4th.
On Wed March 6th I received a call from Vetnostics with the DNA results from two sets of tests (including vWd) that I sent them. The following day I called Healthgene to see if they could give me a verbal on the test they were to run. They didn't have any results yet. When I asked them how it was possible for a company in NJ to have results in 2 days, they just answered that I should expect results from them (up to) 10 days after they receive the samples. So today its been 10 days from the date they received my DNA samples, so once again I decided to call. Guess what... still no results, and the lady who answers the phone decides to correct me by saying it takes "10 business days".
Now you should know that there is a build up going on with me that spurred this rant. Because 14 years ago I spent thousands of dollars doing vWd DNA testing with Healthgene. Just to learn afterwards that they pirated the technology and were forced to stop testing by court order. The database that they offered for vWd results, all of it... useless! The company refused to refund the money for the tests, stating that "the test results were still ligit, so I got what I paid for"
Vetnostics (American) = fast and friendly service (2 days), fair prices, charged a small deposit upon test order, balance paid upon completion of results.
Healthgene (Canadian) = slow service (10 days and still no results), poor customer service, similar prices, but charged up front. They charged my credit card a month ago for services they hadn't even done yet.
End of rant... lol.
