Hi All Here is another picture, one taken by the trainer on his Graduation Day. My wife is not in it sadly because she is studying to become a nurse. He was so happy that night, he had a bit of pent up energy because the two to three days prior to that, he really never got any exercise outside as I have been renovating a bathroom in my home as it leaked, so my motto is if it doesnt work it shouldnt exist... As of today there is nothing in the bathroom that has been there before (not even the subfloor )

He is still a sucker for attention. But was extremely happy that entire evening. It was a bit difficult for the trainer to get the pic because before it was our turn, I was playing with Enzo in the only way I know how Which is to get him all riled up... My wife hates it when I do that because both Enzo and I are high energy personalities. So for me its not a issue, but for everyone else it is. We had so much fun and will be going back for level 2. But I was going to wait until Enzo is about a year old. Or at least the spring of the year.

Congrats to Enzo! What a proud moment. He's very handsome too. I just logged into this Forum for the first time in a while - see that the format has changed it's so much easier to read and respond to posts now! I've been slow to upload photos and provide updates on Kallie but will make it a point to do that real soon.

Hello, As promised, here's my update on Kallie...she's such a good puppy!! (of course I would say that lol) She bounces around like an antelope and absolutely loves people. Only bad thing is that she goes right to people's privates and sniffs like mad. :S We've been dropping her off at a friend's doggy daycare once or twice a week to socialize her with other dogs. We're so glad we do - never realized before but many dogs in my neighborhood are not dog-friendly. From Standard Poodle to Maltese to another red Doberman, they all bark like crazy and the dobie even went for Kallie (but ripped holes in my husband's pants instead). In terms of training, we're doing well. She's got the basic commands down but we still have a lot of work to do with recall. However with that said, she must be hitting that rebellious age because she stopped listening to all commands 2-3 weeks ago! Everything seems to be happening on her terms... Here are some pics! Great pictures Viki. I especially love the one of her sleeping with her Foxy. She's gorgeous (but then I'm pretty partial to the reds..lol)

Nice to see pics from the same litter!!! She looks adorable.
I was saying to my wife the other day again (I like to repeat myself)... We wanted a black and tan boy when we first contacted Monica, but after having Enzo since september... It doesnt matter what color he is, because we have so much love for him and just brightens up my day, even if he gets into badness....
And Viki... My wife has a friend that comes over all the time and Enzo goes straight for her crotch, she says that Enzo gets that behavior from his owner... Now, I cannot confirm or deny that statement, but she is convinced he gets it from me...
Come to think of it that would be extremely weird to witness... Me sniffing other peoples crotches lol.

So...... Enzo is a little escape artist... And he has scratched his face up in accomplishing these feats... First We had a plastic type travel crate but he eventually chewed/scratched through that. Then we got a xl or xxl wire mesh crate which he manages to lift up the door and unhook both latches then I assume he then either opens the cross lock or pushes his head through it until it lets go. Then I tried using tie wraps to secure the door shut but that still doesnt work... It seems to me that I will have to put him in there under lock and key... I am unsure if he is suffering from separation anxiety or if he feels trapped by the crate and is anxious in them. For his face's sake we have for the past week or so have been leaving him in the room on our bed, and removed everything that he can possibly chew up with the exception for our pillows (which he chewed into last week). I am looking for some information on how to diagnose if he has separation anxiety or if it is something else. On another note, I seen the post by monica regarding puppies not being perfectly potty trained. I can say that lately Enzo has been like this, mainly because of the snow he is limited to the back step and on a short leash. He likes to explore and find the perfect spot for his number 2... Which he hasnt had the freedom for lately, combine that with the very cold weather and high winds we have been having lately and he just quickly does his pee then comes in... Even though he is still wanting to go outside as soon as we bring him back in. If it is really cold I will put his jacket on him and keep him outside for a little bit, but as some of you may already have experienced, he just stares at me from the outside with his irresistible face... Any tips or suggestions? Also below are some new pics of Enzo Happy Boy Enjoying a nice scratch Robyn pretending to be Enzo by panting with her tongue out... He didnt like it too much (he would be panting/smiling then when Robyn did it he would give her that im not impressed face, then when she stopped he started to do it again and that lasted three or 4 times back and fourth until we just couldn't stop laughing )

Is he ok when you just leave the room? Does he cry when you leave? Is he overly excited when you come back?
When we were crate training Scarlet she would howl the whole time we were gone and try to escape but she never did manage to do that or hurt herself thankfully. But what she did do was have the runs in her crate every time we would leave her. After about a week of that she got the idea...
I would not make a big deal when you leave and come back... and practice down stays in his crate when you are home and make it a normal part of the routine. Hope this helped!

Quite the escape artist indeed! We started crate training Kallie within the first few days of bringing her home and she's adjusted fairly well. In the beginning, we left a pet bed, towel and toy in there which was all good until the start of this year (maybe because we were home with her over the holidays) because she shredded a towel the first two days she was home alone and finally on the third day, she ate her bed.
So I've received a few tips that you may want to consider:
- Get a chew proof bed! We ordered a Kuranda. - Give Enzo his favourite durable chew toy ONLY when he's in the crate so he has something to enjoy/look forward to. Kallie loves her This & That deer antler but only gets it during crate time. As soon as I open the crate, I take the antler away. - Stuff a Kong with a healthy and delicious treat and freeze. Give it to him when you leave. I stuff mine with canned pumpkin, bits of apple and a little kibble. I've also tried plain yogurt with mashed banana (though I think that causes gas). - Don't play/give attention 15 min before you put Enzo in the crate (so he's not all riled up) and though it's very hard, don't immediately play with him when you take him out (so he's not going crazy for play time the entire time you're gone). - Last note - Kallie sleeps in a crate at night. I used to put it right beside me, then when I needed to get a larger crate, I moved it to the other side of the bedroom, further and further away and now it's downstairs. I think this helps her see the crate as her "den" and helps her associate fact that crate time doesn't necessarily mean we're leaving her home alone.
Hope this helps. Good luck!
