She woke me up at 6 am whining in her crate and she doesn't do that unless she really has to do her business and can't hold it. I took her outside and she definitely had the runs... In a few spots! We went inside, she threw up and had some more of the runs. I've been with her since then keeping her in my room and going outside. She's thrown up over 10 times now it's just turned to stomach bile as theres nothin left. Last poop was about an hour ago and a half ago, and she is still constantly vomiting.
She hasn't had anything weird to eat yesterday, and hasn't eaten since her dinner at 7pm yesterday which include kibble rice and chicken. I have given her a small drink of water this morning. Am I suppose to restrict or keep giving small amounts of water? And when can I give her chicken and rice for breakfast...

I would be calling the vet and get their advice and get her in based on their reccomendation.
Just a thought.........Woofstock all the toys is there anything missing or parts of one missing that she could have swallowed or injested and it's creating a blockage?
I don't mean to scare you but take a cloose look around at all the toys.
Zeus II when he was about the same size and age as Scar had a small nylabone as a young pup, it was like 4" long teal green and he loved that damn toy more than anything and we always left it with him even though he was bigger. One day he had exactly like you are describing with Scarlet but not as violent and I just watched him and he didn't get worse and it seemed to pass. The next day I was cleaning up his poop and guess what I found? That whole Nylabone all in one piece intermixed in a poop. Totally freaked me out and I'm glad he passed it but it showed me something really dangerous.
So after that no small anything and if he chewed it up somewhat in the trash.
Zeus III doesn't swallow stuff but when he gets rawhides gone to a point or balls ripped etc...in the trash they go.
Sending prayers for Scarlett! Let us know.

Yep I'm gonna give a call. She hasn't thrown up or anything since 9ish. But won't drink either. She's shivering quite a bit so I've wrapped her in a warm blanket but she is just miserable.
There's nothing she would have injested, literally my eyes are on her 24 7 as she's always in my room with me or in her crate with a couple safe toys.
We are thinking she may have caught a virus or something over the weekend?

Don't restrict water and keep her hungry for next 24 hours and watch her poo. If she doesn't drink water take her to your vet. She may get dehydrated what is not good for a puppy. My guess she has digestive problems. Shivering may be a sign of pain.

Scaret will be in our thoughts for all day... Remebers me very sad memories about stomach turn, same symptoms especialy dont want to drink or eat (not even the smallest chunk of cheese) and pain. Hope it's someting else but since we lost a dog into that we're alway freeking out when a dog vomits and dont want to drink. Big hugs to all of you I can't wait to have an update.

Good Luck Andreina! Please keep us posted. As Gary said, perhaps it is a toy? Reyna had a similar incident a few months ago, if you recall, with a toxic rubber toy. Kisses to Scar from Reyna and I xo

Thanks for all the kind thoughts guys! Well, Scar got a swab done and she tested positive for Giardia. It's likely due to drinking puddles and creek water on the trails here. No more hikes for missy for a while! My vet said she's treated a lot of dogs in the past couple of weeks for Giardia too... She was lethargic all morning, but of course she makes a liar out of me, walks into the vet office, nub going a million miles a minute and giving everyone kisses...... lol. She hasn't been sick still since 9am, has had a couple small drinks, and had some canned food which she kept down also. I think she will be fine soon, just got to get those meds working. For now, she is getting spoiled and gets to cuddle on the bed.... I couldn't leave you guys without photo's of the princess right? Loves her stuffies.....

AWWWW....She is so cute and looks like she is taking advantage BIG time of all the lovings...lol
She will start to feel beter tomorrow....Dante had Giardia a few times when he was younger...Very common mainly in the spring and when we have had lots of rain fall...As you said, they commonly get it from drinking puddles and sniffing where other dogs have peed . I try my best never to let Dante sniff on our walks....We are just relieved that that is all she has....
Give her big kisses from us...xox

Scar gives big kisses to everyone! Barb & Kerrie, is it normal for her to want to just sleep all the time? She is really lethargic, hasn't left the bed all day, just to go to the vets... Hmmm I know she is feeling pretty crappy, probably she just wants/needs lots of rest?

Hmmm I know she is feeling pretty crappy, probably she just wants/needs lots of rest? Take advantage of it while it lasts. By the 3rd day on the flagyl (metronidazole) the gut starts to feel better. Scarlet needs plenty of fluids, maybe a nice homemade chicken stock.... yummy.

No more hikes for missy for a while! My vet said she's treated a lot of dogs in the past couple of weeks for Giardia too... Oh, so glad it's "just" giardia. Like Gary and Stefan (Mireille?), my first thought when I saw the thread was obstruction. Jack hikes near German Mills Creek (a tributary of the Don -- yuck) nearly every day, and he loves the water. But if we let him anywhere near it, he, of course, tries to take a drink. Which horrifies me. Aside from the nasty organisms, that creek must be loaded with chemicals, etc. And then at this time of year, there are also the dead salmon. Jack is a picky eater at home, but stinky, rotting salmon carcasses? He thinks they're delectable. Hope Scarlet starts feeling better soon. Please keep us posted on her progress.
