NO worries ... she will be fine in no time Let her sleep as much as she wants. Asha got canine cough virus... poor girl being in heat and coughing is not the best combination. She slept a lot for days. Now she is back to normal herself.. biting her brother as usual. That's a relief Scarlet doesn't have obstruction.

So glad to hear she's feeling better. Diesel kinda got depressed for a moment when he found out his lil red lady wasn't feeling too good. Anytime you're ready for a run let me know. By run I meant the two furry kids not me and you...I dont know about you but I don't do running lol

First off, so glad to hear that she's feeling better and it's under control and wasn't anything major. Carolyne and I were talking about this at the show on Saturday, and how I won't let my dogs drink from communal watering dishes like they had there. Did Scarlet drink from any of the many germ infested watering bowls that were there? Diamond had that happen a couple times when she was a pup... people at the dog park thinking they were doing me a favour by letting her drink out of the dish that every other dog drank out of... it just doesn't pay off in the end. How many puppies did you see at the show that were under 4 months, and probably were not fully vaccinated, and shouldn't have been there anyway? I know we saw tons... there are sure to be a lot of sick dogs after all that went on at that show. If she did drink from those bowls at the show, I'd bet dimes to doughnuts that's where she picked it up. Once again, glad she's on the mend, you must be very relieved.

Andrenia glad Scarlet is diagnosed and on the mend. I wasn't thinking bloat at that young age but Zeus I lost his life to bloat. So like Stephan I'm really careful about meals and any exercise before and after. We follow a 2 hour rule for meals or big gulping of water. The meals come 2 hours after any major activity and after meals no walks running, plays till 2 hours after.
Ian you make a excellent point about the water bowls. I'm always concerned Zeus won't drink water from any community bowls anywhere and thinking about it that's a good thing.
I have to try and get him drinking out of a hand held water bottle though. I like seeing dogs do that and it gets him liquids on wlaks etc when he sould get some water.

Ian, she did drink out of those bowls honestly I hadn't even thought about that at the time! Oh well, it happened, we know now And Scarlet's doing great. I bet she caught it at woofstock but it could have been on the trails sun or mon also. Who knows, I'm just glad it's under control and she is eating drinking and feeling better today! Gary, I'm already paranoid about bloat also. I follow the same schedule as you to be safe even though Scarlet is young it could happen still. Bloat is a scary thing. Lana, well meet up next week!

I believe adult Dobermans don't catch Giardia easily. Their immunity takes care of it. Pups are growing and can not fight it.
Raw feeding is a good way to avoid bloat.... wet dog food may work too.

Hi all, just wanted to update that Scarlet is doing awesome. We had her on wet food, incorporating kibble slowly, and she'll be off the wet food tonight. We went up to Monicas yesterday with Kerrie for some training, and they can vouch that Scarlet was no less sassy than usual.... .

Yes...I can verify that Scarlet was being her Sassy self....What a character....She is going to test your patience Andriena but I personally love the challange and you will be amazed at how soon they pick it up if you also make the commitment to her....
Dante wants to let Zues know that he is getting his brothers moves on with all his little girlfriends...He wants to thank Zues for warming them up to the F litter boys....He enjoyed his play time with Scarlet until she tried to jump on his back,,,

Glad to hear that Scarlet's feeling better. And good advice, Ian, about communal water bowls. Hadn't thought of that and, of course, it's soooo obvious.

She tests my patience from morning till night but I love her, and what fun would it be if there wasn't any challenges to overcome? It wouldn't be so rewarding when we succeed then right? I have noticed even a difference since our first session over a week ago, and her change in demenour since we started on the slip. Even though it didn't seem it in class, she listens much better to me at home... Plus I am working with her multiple times, every day and definitely noticed a change in attitude already since the start of bootcamp. I haven't even put the prong on her for walks since Woofstock ;D. She is getting a bit more aware of where she is suppose to be and what she is suppose to do (sometimes). It will come with hard work! Kerrie, you really are an inspiration to me! You are so good with Dante, and it really shows how much time you have put in with him. Julian and I are always saying what a gorgeous, well behaved boy he is! Another thing I want to work on is her etiquette off leash towards other dogs though, ie. as you said, jumping over Dante... I know a lot of dogs don't appreciate that, and she does it quite often. I blame Lana as she learned all this from Diesel HAHA I'm only joking!!! But she plays with D a lot, and he is such a nice boy, and has such a high tolerance for Bull$%^ from her that she thinks she can get away with it from every dog... My princess is a bit spoiled

Glad to hear that Scarlet's feeling better. And good advice, Ian, about communal water bowls. Hadn't thought of that and, of course, it's soooo obvious. It's so obvious that I am frustrated! When looking back, I let her drink from it, not thinking anything of it like, "its just a drink of water." I am going to be more careful now, especially since I am lucky Scarlet is not picky and drinks right from a water bottle or travel bowl. I am not 100% sure she caught it at woof stock cuz like I said, we do a lot of hiking at the trails/creeks by our house. We are there usually 2 - 4 times a week with her, and it easily could have been from the creek. Whichever one, I have learned my lesson lol and hopefully more people who were not aware like myself, learn from this too. So... What did we learn from this expensive vet bill and poopy puppy? To always pack your own water for your dog

To always pack your own water for your dog The timing is about right for it to have happened at Woofstock. But either way, you're right, a lesson learned. I always suggest that people bring water from home, even when they come here for training. Rarely will I even give my dogs water from another city because it can cause diarrhea. A water pail and 1L bottle of water is usually in my van at all times.

That's what we do....we have a 1 lt size container that I think started out as either orange juice, or some sort of juice before that.....washed it and now it is the dogs water container......cause you never know what may happen when you're on the road....and if I remember correctly, when Dante was a little puppy, he got a little diarrhea cause he had to drink water that didn't agree with him...not his usual London City water...
