Welcome new "family members". We also have 2 Dobereich dogs, and have taken training from Monica. We have Kazi who is a half-sister to Eden....and let me tell you I chuckled when I read that Eden is still running around as if she's not pregnant. That's a great girl you've got there, and as for Apollo-----if we didn't have Dante, we'd have Apollo! ( sorry Monica, but you know that's true ). Beautiful dogs....
So enjoy the next few weeks as you watch your puppies grow and develop.....once they're born that is..lol

Welcome W litter owners! Jordan, check out Gemini K9 - it's in Scarborough Brimley and Sheppard. That's where I trained my boy Diesel. Check out the trainer Chris Rollux. He does everything from puppy socialization to protection - he's part of a Schutzund club. He has videos on Youtube so check it out. You can always go to Monica for training but my work schedule couldn't fit with her training classes so I had to find someone closer to home. Learned a lot from him so he's a trainer I highly recommend. He too owns two dobermans so he knows the breed well. Eden was only 6 months old the first time I met her and that was three years ago when I first visited Monica - she's spunky girl with great personality. As for Apollo, he is the sweetest male ever! Big softie ...amazing temperament def can't go wrong with him. Look into the U litter pups from Apollo Thanks for the info, Lana! I really wish we could train our new pup with Monica, but it's just too far of a drive for us. You can really tell that Monica really cares for her dogs. I've met a lot of them in person and they are all really sweet. Great temperament, and very powerful! At one point Rogun sent my wife flying and I was just amazed at how strong he was, lol. It was so funny, but in his defense, we specifically requested to meet him even though Monica warned us that he was extremely excited due to her other girl being in heat (I forget who). My wife and I still talk about it to this day. Lana, I've seen pictures of Diesel. I have to say, he's a great looking dobe! I really hope to meet him in the future. Maybe at one of the meets.

Thank you for your compliments...yes I do agree that my boy is handsome lol ;D He's a big softie that one...call him out and he'll be on you wanting a head rub. Of all the dobes you wanted to meet Rogun??? HAHAHA! That must've been quite an experience and to say extremely excited is putting it midly. Joking aside, I love my boy's sire (Bogey) and grand sire (Argus) but for sure Rogun always...never fails to leave an impression and I absolutely love him for that. Hope to meet you one day...Monica needs to schedule a meet ASAP!

Good morning! How are you all doing today? I'm absolutely dying to hear news! Such an exciting time I'm looking into getting our little one blankets to keep her warm and snug during the winter. Can anyone tell me approximately what size she will need when she comes home and maybe how many sizes she's likely to go through between then and spring? I'm ordering them from the US so I'll need to get them before I meet her. Suggestions for collar sizes would also be greatly appreciated. So thankful to all the experienced dobe owners who are willing to share their time and knowledge on this forum and Facebook. Monica seems to have put together a kennel full of great owners as well as her spectacular dogs! Quite an accomplishment.

I never bought my boy blankets because he would just rip it into shreds lol....Honestly I used old blankets or towels. All he needed were Costco beds - he ripped I think 2 beds before I decided enough was enough haha. As for collars, I personally wouldn't invest on anything expensive (then again it's up to you) as they'll outgrow it very quickly. I just bought Diesel a nylon collar and - 14-16" inches I think. It wasn't around 1.5 or 2 years old where I finally bought him his leather collar...and again...he only uses his collars when we go out. He never wears one when he's in the house.
Goodluck!

I'm thinking swied78 may be talking about coats? Not actual blankets but I could be wrong I know I am trying to figure out what size of coat I will need for this winter and what type. Next winter when he is full grown I want to get him one from www.chillydogs.ca but it seems silly to spend that much on a coat for this winter as it will only fit him for the one season.

As for coats I never had one on Diesel. He was always off leash so he was never cold really. I didn't get him his coat until he was 18 months I think. I don't mind spending money on him but it made no sense for me to spend so much on a coat he'll only wear for a month or two....and yes Chilly Dog coats are awesome. Check out Hurta too Even now he barely wears a coat unless its really cold.

Lol! Sorry for the confusion! Yep I meant a coat. I've had horses all my life and we always called them blankets so I assumed it would translate . You know what they say about making assumptions! Note to self Being a horse person, I'm looking into the dog versions of the "blankets" I've had success with. I'll be ordering a coat for this winter from horseloverz.com. $20-40 seems reasonable to me. We're on the water in Montreal and with the wind it can get really chilly! I guess I need to know the size for a female dobe more specifically... I assume the difference is still significant even as a pup? Any and all input is greatly appreciated!

Those are nice blankets at horseloverz, and a great price. Unfortunately shipping would be almost $30 I know we will need one here in Petawawa. Usually jan and feb are very cold here. -20 or so without the "wind chill". My first doberman used to fall over trying to hold up all his feet when he went out to pee because they got so cold some mornings.

Wow.....well I can assure you this first winter the puppies will be growing out of whatever you bring home to them...lol. Monica sells the Chilly Dog coats on her website....talk to her about this as she also has clients giving back their "gently used" coats to her when they order larger sizes for their dogs. If you want to purchase a new coat for your dog, she can help you do that too---and her clients get a discount ordering thru her as well! As a guide, when it gets -10C and colder, that's when our dogs get their winter coats. Up to -10C they may wear nothing, or just a sweater.
As for sizing---Monica will definitely be able to guide you as to what size to purchase. We have a male and female, and our female grew so fast that she was wearing her big brothers hand-me-downs.....and the funny thing is that they fit! LOL.... Just remember that whatever you purchase for them from now until 18 months, they will outgrow. As for collars, initially a flat nylon collar is best, and you will be changing them every 2-4 weeks as your puppy grows.. You should buy a collar that fits and is a little loose, and then you will see yourselves changing them every few weeks. Kazi outgrew a pink leather-studded collar within a 2 week period.
I would suggest purchasing the puppy package that Monica sells. It's all of the basic essentials for your puppy, and I'd say it's a pretty safe bet that each of us who have purchased it have tried to re-purchase the chew toys as the dogs wear them out. I know we have!
Check out the Kuranda beds also that Monica has for sale. They are great durable beds. Costco has very affordable beds also, but as Lana said earlier, expect your puppy will chew a hole into them...lol

W-litter has arrived! 10 healthy pups consisting of 6 males (3B/3R) and 4 females (3B/1R). After the reservations have been met, I think I might have a couple red boys available. Everyone else has homes awaiting them. Attachments:

Great job Eden! I thought the anticipation might lessen (just the littlest bit) once I knew the pups were here...I think it just got worse! Between my son and I, my husband may go insane over the next nine weeks! LOL dobermoms - thanks for all the good advice. On a funny note, having my pup chew through beds would be a welcome relief. My "Bug" puppy ate every single pair of pumps and stilettos I owned; starting with the most expensive! Didn't matter where I hid them, he'd find them and destroy them in seconds! Never touched a single pair of shoes belonging to anyone but me and he only ate my nice shoes (apparently my $10 flip flops were beneath him...little rascal).
