So Kazi was at the vet Monday with Kerrie as she seems to have had some form of reaction to the TOTW food, and she has gained 3 lbs....so our "little" girl is 90ish lbs....yikes! She is back on the Acana and she has made the transition back to it well. Good grief....I'm chuckling out loud as I write this, but all we thought we were getting was this little 65 lb female....well the laughs on us! On the positive side though, we only have to buy 1 size of sweater/coat/slicker as it fits both dogs.

Part of the reason for switching them was the fact that Acana kept on changing the formula, so it was working fine for Kazi but not for Dante. TOTW seemed to work for some other Dobermans, so we thought "why not", and then only have to carry the one type of food. But, it doesn't seem to work for Kazi so she is back 100% to Acana and Dante is 100% TOTW. So the European in me hates to run out of food, so there is always a back-up bag for each in the house ... just 1 more bag of food to store for them. Oh well.....if that's the worst thing I have to worry about, then I am "living the dream".

Thursday is the first day of spring, and our dogs have had a great winter. They have each enjoyed the wintery outdoors, especially Kazi. I think if we had set up the back Bunkie with a heater, we would never see much of her from November - March. They have definitely gotten a lot of wear from their winter coats this year. How did the rest of the gang survive?

How could they not do okay in those beautiful surroundings? Always love your pix of Gino and Asha. Lucky dogs!

Love those pictures Lisa....I recognize the 3rd picture you took of your 2 dogs as we see the same thing here. LOL. Gosh I think that Kazi and Asha are so similar in their photos that they are the "twins" of the N-litter. The girls even share the same stance as they are staring away...I recognize that "bum" anywhere.

Did you mean to say a confident stance... ready to act any second?

Yes Lisa, I meant in a confident stance, ready to act in a seconds notice.
You will be very proud of Kerrie tonight: the dogs had their first "raw" meal. Yes it is true..lol. They had chicken feet as an appetizer this afternoon, and a main meal of chicken backs tonight. And they loved it!!!!! Normally it takes Kazi "seconds" to eat her kibble-meal, and with the chicken backs it took her anywhere from 5-10 minutes---it was awesome. Of course she knew exactly what to do with the meat, so no doubt this is going to be a good transition for them. Dante enjoyed his raw meal also, so the dog's freezer gets delievered next week, and we will begin the process of filling it. We can't wait to see how, or if, we see any changes in the dogs ie skin-coat, teeth.

Quick post....we are half and half raw/kibble still. The morning food is kibble and the evening is raw. We will finish off the kibble that we have and then that's that...100% raw. So far so good though. Tonight Dante took around 10 minutes to savor his dinner while Kazi was a lot quicker. The companies that Kerrie has found are located close to London, and as there are few people in this neck of the woods, just PM us for more details if you're interested.

If Kazi is too quick you need to feed her a bit frozen meaty bones. It will slow her down. Gulping bones are not good.
Another option is to feed ground meat with bones. My dogs get both ground meat with bones and meaty bones.

They are loving the raw food. Earlier I reached into the lower freezer drawer of the refrigerator and Kazi was right there "thinking" I was getting something for her. Silly girl! Kerrie has already noticed that the poops are sizeably smaller, and in a few days she'll check the whiteness of their teeth as they are supposed to be noticeable brighter. The freezer is in its place and now ready to be filled. Onwards we go....
