I have never met Juno in person and heard many times she was very sweet girl. Barb you mentioned "her mischievious ways"... can you share? In the last picture Juno looks so much like my Asha... mischievious girl!

Hi all, Great seeing everyone at the D.O.G. meet at Rattlesnake point today. Nice to be able to put faces to name, even if I remember the dogs more than the people...don't be offended though I will eventually learn your names too! So for those who know Juno I am going to photodump a few pictures here for you...I hope. Big thanks to Lisa for her help with this. This is Isadora, also from Dobereich we loved her dearly. (A quick note that the plastic squeaky ball in this photo, that Isi enjoyed for years... Juno destroyed in about 2 minutes...good thing I'm not sentimental!) Juno has a new sister, a 13 and a half year old Golden who is her white shadow. She is nan to our little Sebastian. (The cutest baby in the world...but i am bias). She has even found that stuffies are not just for unstuffing...although she is still tempted! And of course it's fun to just sit back and enjoy the sun. Juno is certainly making the most of her retirement, and we are glad we can help. Martin

Juno is a lucky girl to have you It's hard to believe she is a retiree. She looks young and full of energy. Hahaha... balls don't last in our house. Her daugher Asha destroys it in a few minutes. I like your pictures "white shadow". Your lab is adorable. It's nice she likes her new sister Juno.

Martin, thank you for the photos, and it was very nice to meet you yesterday and for Kazi and I to walk with you and Juno. You made me laugh at your comment towards Kazi when we walked past the one dog and she started to bark....and you commented that that was not Juno but must be Rogun's personality shining thru. LOL. Thank goodness Kazi also has Juno's sweet side....she can melt you with her chocolate brown eyes. Juno looks so happy with you ( sorry Monica ), and it is so wonderful for all of us to see her with you and your family. Thank you for sharing her with us still.....we love her so much!

Sorry, the white shadow has a name. That's Sophie, not the name she had originally, but the one we gave her when we rescued her from a puppy mill. She was a breeding dog.(like Juno, but that's where the similarities end) We got her when she was 7 years old, we saved her after her 9th or 10th litter where she only threw 5 pups and 2 died. We were there with a friend who was wanting to purchase one of her puppies. When we heard she was going to be "retired" and found out what that meant we asked to adopt her. We left with my wife crying and them saying they would think about it because she was "their favourite." I told her they would call and they did, but my wife still wanted me to turn around. She was crying that we couldn't leave her there. We weren't home 20 minutes and they said we could adopt her for the same price as a puppy. The vet warned us against it but we did it. Turns out she also had an infection since the puppies were born that likely would have killed her anyway. She ended up costing us almost 2X as much as Isi had including spay and other vet bills! She didn't know her name, she had never been outside, she didn't know what a toy was, she didn't know how to be a dog at all. Honestly without Isi we would never have been able to save her...Isi showed her how to be a dog. She followed Isi everywhere and did what she did. Not long after Isi died Sophie suffered a neurological attack called vestibular disease. (old dog disease) We thought she was a goner, she couldn't stand, hold her head up, both eyes twitched erratically, her head was tilted to one side. It happened on a Sunday night and as she degenerated through the night, vomitting etc. we made the decision to put her down. My poor wife couldn't even look at her, we called the vet and she agreed to come in early. So next morning we loaded her into the car and I went into the building to be there with her and my wife and baby stayed in the car. She texted a lot of our close friends that we had to put Sophie down. Obviously from the pictures we didn't. The vet asked for 24 hours she felt the symtoms were this vestibular disease I had never heard of. Long story short (too late) two days later she walked out of the vet's office and I took her home. It seemed like a miracle. There were after effects, she couldn't stairclimb, her balance was off, walking was still a challenge, but the happy go lucky Sophie we knew was still there. When we got Juno she still had a lot of these issues, but over the weeks she has improved. Sophie walks stairs with Juno, follows her on walks, she has made remarkable progress. I cannot say enough about how Juno has helped Sophie. I'm sure she would have improved if Isi was still around, but for Juno to just come out of the blue really and befriend her and take on this project we call Sophie it's been pretty remarkable and again we owe it all to Monica. Monica raises and breeds remarkable dogs as we all know but I am still in awe of the challenges Juno has been able to step into and take on. And yes she is adorable (Juno too)

Yes it was great to meet Kazi, I see a lot of Juno in her! Right down to the big head! LOL sorry Monica I don't lovingly call her June Bug like you did, it's big head now...Hope I don't give her a complex. I really enjoyed myself...(sorry if I seemed aloof) I had a lot of other things on my mind or I would have stayed longer. Dante was quite stunning too! And aloof like me! ;D I hope Juno is happy with us, Andreina might have hit it right when he said "content". I always feel as if I owe her more. She's a remarkable dog. I know she misses Monica still, she lay down at the back of her van after the walk as if a little confused about who she was going with it's a good thing both cages were occupied or she might have wanted to go with her! She'll always love Monica on some level that's for sure and I think Monica will always love her too Martin

I have to wipe my eyes.....I am so happy that Juno has found her way to you and your family. She is a very lucky dog, and she has been a remarkable "Mother" to her litters, and now to Sophie and Sebastian. Of course Monica will always love her, and Juno love Monica, but she also loves your family too. Monica is blessed to have the most incredible connection with her dogs that most people will never experience, yet only think that they have. Dante goes "biserk" when he see Monica....as if we don't even exist. She has a special place in his heart that is only for her, and she has that with all of her dogs. Thank you for sharing your story with us here on the forum. I cannot support BYB personally, and your story is a perfect example of why we should all band together to stop them! You and your wife are a very special couple, and you give me inspiration to be a better dog-parent. Thank you again for the smiles that you brought to all of us yesterday. I look forward to seeing you at the next meetup/walk, and hopefully the rest of the family can come as well. Please give Junobug hugs and kisses from us.....xo

Just getting caught up, been away too long it seems. Such lovely pics, and Isi was a really pretty girl who wore her natural ears quite nicely. Thanks for the Postcard, Juno did a really good job in writing it. I had just come home from the vets, found out that Cajun and Rhody aren't pregnant. That is pretty well it for my lil man Rhody, his male parts are showing his age and after much effort and expense it appears I will not be able to keep a Rhody puppy after-all. I was so sad, thought of Apollo and how Juno and Rhody made one beautiful boy that will step into Rhody's place. Both Apollo's parents retiring months apart from each-other, then getting the post card. Well lets just say it was an emotional moment. Juno has a wonderful home with your family Martin. No regrets on this end, thank you for loving her and making her a part of your family.

No regrets on this end, thank you for loving her and making her a part of your family. Thanks Monica. Glad you got the postcard...I told you she was a remarkable dog! Steph's idea though can't take all the credit there Juno... Sorry to hear about your little man Rhody. Hope it was a good emotional moment anyway. Apollo will undoubtably produce beautiful puppies for you to decide to keep. Just don't keep too many! Got to be the best job in the world...having the puppies...and the worst having to say good bye to the puppies! That's why these D.O.G. Days are great! So I'll throw a few more Juno pics before I go to bed. A dobie donut one (or pretzel) for Klitterjuno and Andreina. And a few of little lazy Juno who decided to stop and take a rest on our walk today and then afterwards laid in the sun...go figure. Isi I miss daily and can't help but think of her when I see natural ears on a dobe. Almost a relief that Juno doesn't have them...I'd be a mess. Sadly didn't really take a lot of pictures with her when maybe I should have...learning from Barb and Kerrie to always have that camera around...just maybe not on the beach in the surf.. a dobie donut (pretzel) for Klitterjuno and andreina Juno decides that the shade of a fence when we are nearly done our walk is a good place to relax and smell the flowers. and then after she took a rest stop break in the shade, she gets home and lays in the sun...I'll never understand women! Like Juno...like Kazi. The picture of Juno in the "flowers" is like Kazi......Kazi likes to lie in the periwinkle with just her face poking out. Even in this heat, she will be outside playing, come inside for a few minutes to cool off, then she'll ring the bells again to go outside. When we look out the window, all we see is Kazi lying on the grass ( with her jolly ball ) relaxing in the sun overlooking her property.
