Kallie is a sweetie. Her Uncle Jack, Cynder's brother, says a big hello to her and all his new nieces and nephews!

I think most people know(those that have Facebook anyway) that Ollie came home with us last Thursday and so far she's been an awesome little puppy! She's taken to potty training very well, although there have been a couple accidents (luckily only pee lol). Crate training so far has been a dream, she slept with me the first couple of nights and then we started crating her. She only screamed at me after our 4 am walk the very first night and after that has slept through without a problem (knock on wood). As for Tuula... She wouldn't even look at me the night we brought her home, but she's starting to warm up to Ollie now... She even tries to play with her once in a while! I will post pictures when I can get them on my computer. Would love to hear how all her brothers and sisters are doing!

Glad to hear that Ollie is doing well....Dante took a number of weeks to warm up to Kazi. He kept wondering why her "human parents" were taking so long to pick her up from our house.

Crate and potty training haven't been too successful and I hope our inexperience isn't delaying Kallie's training or causing her to develop bad habits. She would pee and poo inside literally seconds after 30 min. in our yard (we walk with her on a leash) and today, right in the middle of playing in the living room, she ran into her crate to pee. Any advice to get her to go when she's outside would be appreciated! I know that we also need to do better at reading the signs... On a happier note, she's a complete cuddle monster. Here's a picture from her first weekend at home.

She's a sweetie!!! Big paws too!! My advice is to take her outside right after to do her business. You have to be persistent and take her out a lot as she probably doesn't know how to tell you yet that she has To go. The weather is nice now so just sit outside with her until she goes and when she does give lots of praise and pets. Make a big deal about it! when scar Was little we took her out about every half an hour and directly after Food or drink. Hope you are enjoying puppyhood otherwise!

What Andreina said, for sure. Don't wait for Kallie to display signs. Take her outside every half-hour or so, as well as after meals, after she drinks, after (and sometimes in the middle of) play sessions, after naps . . . in other words, take her outside all the time. LOL.
Make sure these excursions outside are potty sessions only. Just business. No play. And as Andreina said, praise, praise, praise when she goes.
And at night, set the alarm, wake her up and carry her outside three times for the first while. Then reduce to twice, then to once . . . Again, no play. Just business.
I know this may seem like a lot, and it is a pain, but going overboard is SO worth it. She will soon pick up on the idea that outside is the place to potty -- and you'll soon forget what a pain housetraining was!

Thanks to everyone for the helpful tips! We've been taking her out after eat/drink/sleep/play and every so often, but I see things we need to improve on. She ran around freely in our yard for the first two days and now that she's got the leash on, she's hating it. Even when I limit her to her "area" she's distracted and having a blast - finding little twigs and biting weeds (I know, I need to clear my yard a bit better lol). If she starts to venture and I try to walk her back to her area, she sometimes sits and refuses to move. I haven't been waking her from sleeps to go (she looks so comfortable and relaxed) but will start doing that too. And, we've since made her crate a bit smaller. We bought a large and sectioned more than half of it off. Accidents and stubborness aside, Kallie is too sweet for words. Will keep you all posted on our progress. Thanks again!

She'll learn soon enough but yes...taking her outside as frequent as possible will make it easier for her to get on the program. She looks so sweet!

Well, Tuula is definitely warming up to Ollie, they've had a few good play rounds so far. Ollie is getting much bolder, barking at Tuula, nipping her ankles, harassing her in general, and Tuula is being very good about it. Makes me so proud of my girls
