it was a great first day of training..it was great to work with the little puppies, and with Zeus today. I (Barbara) have a lot of work to do as I don't want to let either Kazi, Dante, or Kerrie down. Kazi did really well, and is a fast learner. She picked up really fast, and I was really proud of her/us. Now the real work starts tomorrow at home.....looking forward to next weeks lesson though.

Reyna will be added to the scrum next weekend! Hopefully she'll be able to contain herself with Zeus around! After almost 2 hours in the Jeep she'll need a good romp... perhaps her mom can give her a run for her money!!

We always arrive a little early so that we can let our kids out for a run as well to get rid of some energy before training. Ours usually sleep for the 1 1/2 hr trip (well Kazi does anyways), and like yesterday, they (ok, Kazi) chased Dante all thru-out Monica's yard. I laughed at Gary commenting at how "gentle" they played with eachother--NOT! lol

Dante is more advanced in obedience levels as Zeus is just a little into level 1. He actually stepped up pretty good to the challenge and did well, training with his brother Dante, at least I think he and I did ok, Monica might have a different opinion Work in progress and lots to learn and do, still a journey for us both. Honestly I think he was thinking all along he was staying, (he stayed with Monica on our recent vacation) and I was leaving him again ( because when I got back in the truck and drove out of the driveway he was sitting beside me and leaning against me so hard and then looked up and started licking my ears , then laid down with a big moan and started working on a rawhide chew. and was crashed, tired, content looking all the way home. He knew when we turned out of the driveway he was going home. He ate like crazy when he got home and after he settled he was crashed in his crate all night not a peep. Chris had a hard time to get him to wake up for his early morning walk. , He came back and crashed in his crate till 8 AM and is still wacked out, he's been out cold in my office for 2 hours since he came out of the crate at 8AM . I'm thinking the mental stimulation of the training totally drained him? I haven't seem his this wacked out and tired for a long time. Walking any distance and free runs give him physical exercise but don't stimulate his mind like one good training session We had some fun before the training though and I didn't realize how competitive Monica was until I brought out my radar gun Long story but way back i started a thread over at DT how fast can your doberman run? I need to radar Zeus again and probably will next time I have him free running at the track. I find for him let him be off and call him and just turn and start walking and that's his reason to fly. Anyway in winter in snow with his Chilly Dog coat on also younger dog he went 24 mph. For fun we radared Reyna a couple weeks ago by our house chasining a road hockey ball and Joanne using a chuck it, Reyna's best was 23 MPH but man is she fast accellerating as she hit that speed in a very short distance like 100' or less, where as Zeus was lile 500' or more away when I called him and clocked him. So Reyna I think is really the fastest doberman and giving her a better place and some more chances she will better Zeus for sure, but Zeus was handicapped running in snow and with a coat on but he was also younger and lighter in weight so maybe he will better his 24 mph now, but maybe not? So I'm not making excuses but at this point in his life Zeus will get another shot on the gun to see if he can better 24 mph. I think he can but maybe not, older, heavier, no boys ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D That being said............Monica can chime in about our fun with the radar gun, or Barb or Kerrie. I'm not saying anything yet As for Kazi, funny as Zeus would start the ear licks and Kazi started yelping?? Zeus more ear licks and spin and smell my butt but Kazi was not sure..........Dante and Kazi off leash? Run for cover holy crap they were like a heard of elephants and Kazi loves to beat the crap out of Dante! She wears the pants between them.

Aww sounds like you guys had lots of fun! ;D Wish we could attend . Gary, I know exactly what you are saying Zeus does in the car. When Scarlet is really tired or being really needy lol she puts her head right in my neck and my shoulder and pushes her big nose in lol. She nestles right in there and like humms and sighs, she's a big sucky. I find mental stimulation tires her out a lot as well, I try to do both mental and physical exercises daily. That's so funny Zeus's moves with the ladies, he does that with every female he meets eh? lol

If Zeus is on a leash and there is a female he's does the same thing. 1st sniffing is it a male or female dog, female ok, then ear licks, if she is receptive, he really lays it on, then offer spin and smell his butt. It's his signiture move ;D I haven't seen much of the paw action last D.O.G meet and last time running in our yard with Reyna no paw action? Maybe with his boys no longer around he has no desire to try and mount? I know he and Reyna played for a long time and really were calm and relaxed and great together, both happy, sharing toys, etc. Not like Dante and Kazi kazi was beating the crap out of Dante and god forbid you got in the way, they were maniacs and even my size I'm sure they would have knocked me flat on my butt if I was in their path....No Joke Monica let out Rogun and I forget which female, she was black, and they were like Dante and Kazi too! In fact I did an emergency side step or they would have put me on my ass as they went flying past me at speed. Beautiful sight though seeing Dobermans running and prancing loose and happy! Autumn, Eden, Cajun, Rogun and the mystery girl, Dante, Kazi all cut loose and were just amazing to watch. Then on the other end of the spectrum were the 2 mountain climbing pups, they were scaling the portable X pen grate walls like houdini

hahahahaha....Rogun was out running around with Juno...both Kazi's parents. So, if you saw any dogs jumping around the yard, well, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree...lol...
No question that Kazi is alpha with Dante. And he lets her! It's so funny when Kerrie takes Kazi outside for a walk....Dante suddenly realizes that both his alphas have left the house, and he is literally beside himself, whimpering, wondering where and when they will come back, if they will come back.
Yes, training sessions really tire out the dogs. First the fresh air, full-out running, and then the mental stimulation. They slept on the way home, poop and pee, dinner and then slept thru the night. It's a great day for them, and now you know why I love training. Sure, it's a long day, but it is so worth it for the dogs!

First day of training for us was FUN! I have a lot to learn and teach Reyna, but I think she was a good girl for a first day of 'Monica Boot Camp' ;D
Really impressed with Kerrie and Dante!! Actually, what upstages his great training and behaviour is the hilarious moves he puts on Monica... he LOVES her to bits! LOL So funny to see a 95lb dog jumping around on his back legs and going completely insane as soon as Monica came over... it's really unlike Dante from what I've seen of him!
Zeus was doing soooo well too! Him and Gary had some impressive moves.
Cajun and Juno made celerity appearances with Kerrie and Barb, so it was a great group working together and having fun.
Reyna has wolfed 3 cups of food and is happily crashed in a little ball on her spot on the couch.
We have lots of homework, and I am really looking forward to our Sundays together with the crew!
Also, thank you to Monica and everyone else for their help and encouragement. It is awesome to have such a supportive, close-knit group to work with. I couldn't imagine better training for us than with Monica and all of you.

Hey Jo....and Reyna ( who I know is sleeping on her bed...lol )
We're just getting home from a great day of training with our Dobereich family.....wow, what a lot of fun in the class, and believe me you and Reyna did amazing today, and you and Mark will both be amazed at how fast you can both progress. Just keep up with the homework this week.....it is truly important! I never thought of Monica's training as "boot camp for dogs", but you have a point. No doberman gets away with ANYTHING!!! (for long anyways..lol)
We are amazed at how Dante stayed in his "down" with cute little Reyna running circles around him....such will-power. lol. I think he has just put out the challenge to his brother Zeus....I hope he's up for the challenge. lol.
Thanks for the kind words about Dante.....Kerrie has worked relentlessly with him.....and it shows for them both. I look forward to seeing them both complete level 3 obedience.....and then competing for CD. Right now, he is only at obedience level 2, week 3.....and yes.....Dante ABSOLUTELY LOVES his Mommy Monica. He has never, ever, ever, forgotten her. For the past 3 years, it has been this way....they both jump up at eachother--up and down, up and down....it is so cute.
Hope to see Scarlet also.......working with Juno and Cajun was fun also....such spoiled show dogs! Kerrie was working with Juno, who Kazi is the spitting image of, so it was kind of sweet-sorrow for her as we just left Kazi at our nieces for the next 2 weeks as she is in heat. Then I got to work with Cajun, who is just an absolute sweetie.....her eyes just melt you--they are so soft.
So Dante has his work cut out for him for the next 2 weeks as he has to work with both of us, seperately.

Barb I know all about the Cajun eye melt ;D...... cuz Scarlet has the exact same one from her mama lol. The second I met Cajun last year I knew I wanted one of her red girls... She really is the sweetest, I can't wait to see her again!! We are looking forward to learning a lot with all of you in classes. Scarlet has a lot to prove being the youngest one lol... No I'm sure she will do awesome! We are up for it!
